Men's Indoor Track and Field Places Fifth at OAC North Split Meet

BEREA, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University men's indoor track and field team opened up the 2018 season with a fifth place finish at the Ohio Athletic Conference North Split meet on the Harrison Dillard Track inside the Lou Higgins Center Fieldhouse.

The BW men placed fifth of five teams with a total of 78 points while the University of Mount Union won with a total of 219 points. 

On the men's side, senior All-OAC thrower Zak Dysert (McDonald, Pa./Fort Cherry) won the weight throw with a toss of 55'11" while junior Academic All-OAC thrower Milton Woods (Chicago, Ill./Whitney Young) took second in his first collegiate throwing event with a 54'1.75" throw. Sophomore thrower Carson Kinney (Greenwich/South Central) rounded out the scoring in the weight throw by placing sixth with a throw of 50'11". In the shot put, sophomore thrower Ted Achladis (Avon Lake/Elyria Catholic) finished second with a 49'9" career-best toss. Freshman jumper Alex Dempsey (Madison) placed third in the long jump with a leap of 20'9".

On the track, junior All-American sprinter Jordan Leverette (Cleveland/John Adams) won the 200-meter dash in 22.67 seconds and was also the runner-up in the 400-meter dash with a time of 50.14 seconds.

In distance, sophomore Isaac Wilson (Tylersburg, Pa./North Clarion) won the 5,000-meter run with a time of 16:00.23 and freshman Jose Reynoso (Painesville/Harvey) took third place in a time of 16:03.08. Freshman Josh Hickmott (Clay, N.Y./Liverpool) placed sixth in the 3,000-meter run in 9:25.19.

BW will be back in action on Friday, January 26, when the Yellow Jackets host the Dr. William Taraschke Classic on the Harrison Dillard Track inside the Lou Higgins Center Fieldhouse. Field events will begin at 4 p.m. while running events will begin at approximately 5 p.m.
