Baseball Suffers Defeat to Susquehanna (Pa.) on Final Game of Shortened Season

PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. – In the final game of a shortened 2020 season, the Baldwin Wallace University baseball team fell to Susquehanna (Pa.) University 6-1, at the North Charlotte Regional Park.

Before the game, the seniors were recognized for their commitment and dedication to the BW baseball program.

The Yellow Jackets (5-6) plated one run off five hits.

The offense was led by two-time Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference outfielder Brandon Dim (Solon) as he drove in a run with a single to center field in the second. Junior second baseman Tony LoParo (Avon/Elyria Catholic) recorded a hit and scored a run. Junior All-OAC shortstop Alex Ludwick (Brunswick/Padua Franciscan), senior catcher Jake Smith (Medina), and senior designated hitter Ty McKinney (Uniontown / Canton South) each tallied a hit.

Senior right-hand pitcher Dylan Nieto (Brunswick/St. Ignatius) was given the nod and allowed two earned runs off one hit. Senior right-hand pitcher Spencer Aukerman (Medina) entered in relief and went 3.1 innings where he allowed two earned runs off three hits while striking out two. Senior right-hand pitcher Max Adams (Massillon/Washington) dealt 1.1 innings and allowed zero runs off one hit and struck out one. Senior two-time Academic All-OAC left-hand pitcher Michael Hubert (Cincinnati/Oak Hills) dealt 1.2 innings and allowed two earned runs off two hits. Senior right-hand pitcher Scott Kirchhoff (Toledo/Sylvania Northview) threw 1.0 innings and allowed zero runs where he struck out two. Senior left-hand pitcher Spencer Berg (New Albany) dealt .1 innings and struck out one before freshman left-handed pitcher Nik Baldis (Wexford/North Allegheny) dealt .1 innings, allowing one hit.
