TIFFIN, Ohio - The Baldwin Wallace University men's outdoor track and field team placed ninth at the two-day 2021 Ohio Athletic Conference Outdoor Championships, hosted by Heidelberg University inside Hoernemann Stadium.
BW placed ninth of 10 teams with 21 points. The University of Mount Union won the team title with a total of 246.5 points.
After posting the fourth-fastest time in Thursday's preliminaries, sophomore hurdler ShaDaryll Clark (Brook Park/Berea-Midpark) finished fourth in the 110-meter hurdle finals in a time of 14.99 seconds, just 0.19 seconds off an All-OAC finish. Senior distance runner Andrew Krupp (Ottawa Hills) earned four points to BW's team total with his fifth-place finish in the 5,000-meter run in a career-best time of 15:06.37. Junior distance runner David Prather (Hardin, Mont.) placed eighth in the 800-meter run in 1:58.92 and added a point for the Yellow Jackets.
The 4x400-meter relay team of freshman sprinter Marcus Price (North Ridgeville), Prather, freshman sprinter Desmond Manley (Akron/St. Vincent-St. Mary) and Clark placed sixth in a BW season-best time of 3:28.87. Freshman sprinter Mason Birkbeck (Wadsworth), Clark, Price and Manley combined for a seventh-place finish in the 4x100-meter relay in a BW season-best time of 44.14 seconds.
In field event action, junior thrower Jake Mantle (North Royalton) finished eighth in the shot put with a mark of 43 feet, 10 inches.
BW will host the Harrison Dillard Twilight for its last meet of the outdoor season on Friday, May 14, inside George Finnie Stadium.
