Women’s Wrestling Defeats Mount Union in First Ever Dual Match

BEREA, Ohio – For the first time in university history and for the first time ever at home, the Baldwin Wallace University women's wrestling team defeated the University of Mount Union in a dual match by a final score of 35-16 in the Ursprung Gymnasium inside the Lou Higgins Center.
 
BW (1-0), who added women's wrestling in 2022, had only competed this season in one open tournament.  The Yellow Jackets won eight of 10 matches.  Mount Union (0-1) won two matches.

  • 103 pounds:           Freshman Callie Helton (Norwalk) won by forfeit                             
  • 110 pounds:           Freshman Molly Lehman (North Olmsted won by forfeit                              
  • 117 pounds:           Freshman Victoria Bernard (Buellton, Calif./Dos Pueblos) won an 12-3 technical fall          
  • 124 pounds:           Freshman Abby DiCenzo (Tampa, Fla./Bell Creek) won by pinfall        
  • 131 pounds:           Freshman Lexie Beadle (Youngstown/Boardman) won by pinfall        
  • 138 pounds:           Mount Union won by forfeit             
  • 145 pounds:           Freshman Hattie Rose Hobar (Avon Lake) fell by a score of 6-1            
  • 160 pounds:           Freshman Leyna Rumpler (Wexford, Pa./North Allegheny) won by forfeit      
  • 180 pounds:           Freshman Gillian Coulson (Lakewood) won by pinfall                   
  • 207 pounds:           Freshman Gabby Kennedy (Dayton/Chaminade-Julienne) loss by pinfall
BW is back in action on Friday, November 22 when it hosts the first match of a women's and men's doubleheader against Delaware Valley (Pa.) University at 7 p.m.
 
The Yellow Jackets host the inaugural BW Open on Sunday, November 24 in the Lou Higgins Center Fieldhouse at 10 a.m.
