CLEVELAND, Ohio - Baldwin Wallace University baseball senior All-Ohio Athletic Conference outfielder
Joey Marousek (North Royalton) has been named one of three finalists for the Male Collegiate Athlete of the Year Award presented by H. Jack's Plumbing & Heating Co. "The Super Plumber!"
at the 25th Greater Cleveland Sports Awards presented by Medical Mutual and Ancora.
The 25th Greater Cleveland Sports Awards will take place on February 6 at 5:30 p.m. in Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse in downtown Cleveland. The awards show features 10 different awards including a fan vote in five categories. Finalists for each category were selected by an awards committee and various local sports media outlets across Northeast Ohio. Fan voting closes January 12 at 5 p.m. and the winners from each category will be announced live at the awards show. Marousek is named a finalist after a career 2024 season for the BW baseball team where he helped lead the Yellow Jackets to an OAC Regular Season Title, an OAC Tournament Title, and a NCAA Regional Tournament appearance. He was
an Ohio Athletic Conference first-team selection and an American Baseball Coaches Association/Rawlings All-Region 7 second-team honoree after appearing in all 46 games where he hit a team-leading .351 with a career-best 66 hits and 35 RBI from the leadoff spot.
Marousek also tallied nine doubles, two triples, and a homer on his way to a .436 on-base percentage and a .436 slugging percentage. He also led the team and was third in the OAC in stolen bases with 23.
Marousek was also a College Sports Communicators Academic All-District selection, an Academic All-OAC honoree, and was selected to the 2024 OAC All-Tournament Team.
In his career, Marousek has appeared in 70 games and has collected 81 hits and 48 RBI. He has a lifetime batting average of .325, an on-base percentage of .416 and has tallied 10 doubles, two triples, and a home run for a slugging percentage of .394. Marousek has also swiped 27 bags in his career.
Marousek also played quarterback for the Yellow Jacket football team in the 2022 and 2023 seasons. In his BW career, he appeared in 19 games with 17 starts where he completed 227-of-417 passes for 2,996 yards with 25 touchdowns. Marousek also rushed for 340 yards on 110 carries. He holds the Finnie Stadium game record for yards with 391 and passing attempts with 43. Marousek is also tied for the Finnie Stadium game record with 25 completions. He is also a football College Sports Communicators Academic All-District selection, an Academic All-OAC honoree, and was named to the National Football Foundation Hampshire Honor Society.
