Men's and Women's Indoor Track and Field Compete at Mount Union Final Qualifier

ALLIANCE, Ohio – Select members of the Baldwin Wallace University men's and women's indoor track and field teams competed at the Mount Union Final Qualifier inside of the Peterson Field House. Each student-athlete competed in order to obtain a qualifying mark to the NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field National Championship meet next week.  

The Yellow Jackets individual events highlights included:

  • Senior All-Ohio Athletic Conference hurdler ShaDaryll Clark II (Brook Park / Berea-Midpark) finished second in the men's 60-meter hurdles in a time of 8.32.

Field events highlights:

  • Junior All-OAC high jumper Christian Pfeiffer (Amherst) won the men's high jump with a distance of 6' and 4¼".
  • Freshman All-OAC shot putter Amyah Chosa (Jemez Pueblo, N.M. / Jemez Valley) finished second in the women's shot put with a distance of 42' and 10¼".
  • Junior Kaleu Tellas (Indianapolis, Ind. / International School of Indiana) placed second in the men's shot put with a distance of 53' and 2¼".
  • Sophomore All-OAC triple jumper Drexton Friscone (Columbia Station / Columbia) finished second in the men's triple jump with a distance of 45' ad 2¼".
  • Junior Jason Freeman (Garfield Heights / Padua Franciscan) placed third in the men's high jump with a distance of 6' and 2¼".
  • Junior All-OAC weight thrower Emily Torres (Berea / Berea-Midpark) finished sixth in the women's weight throw with a distance of 47' and 5". 
  • Junior Mason Kiesel (New London / South Central) placed ninth in the men's shot put with a distance of 48' and 3½".
  • Freshman Ethan Long (Springboro) finished ninth in the men's weight throw with a distance of 51' and 5".

The Yellow Jackets will now wait and see which athletes qualify for the 2024 NCAA Indoor National Championships, hosted Friday and Saturday, March 8-9 by Norfolk State (Va.) University in Virginia Beach, Virginia.
