ALLIANCE, Ohio - Select members of the Baldwin Wallace University men's outdoor track and field team competed at the Mount Union Last Chance Meet inside of Kehres Stadium. Each student-athlete competed in order to obtain a qualifying mark to the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field National Championships next week.
The Yellow Jackets individual events highlights included:
- Sophomore All-Ohio Athletic Conference distance runner Sam Sikorski (Columbia Station / Columbia) finished fifth in the 800-meter run in a time of 1:52.94.
- Freshman distance runner Andrew Piehler (Medina) placed 10th in the 1500-meter run in a time of 4:07.95.
- Freshman distance runner Nick Marcovitch (San Antonio, Texas / Claudia Taylor Johnson) finished 11th in the 1500-meter run in a time of 4:21.53.
Field events highlighted:
- Junior Joe Barnes (West Plains, Mo.) placed fourth in the javelin throw with a mark of 49.37 meters.
- Junior All-OAC thrower Thomas Hickman (Oxford / Talawanda) finished eighth in the discus throw with a distance of 46.08 meters.
- Junior Kaleu Tellas (Indianapolis, Ind. / International School of Indiana) placed eighth in the shot put with a mark of 14.91 meters.
- Junior Mason Kiesel (New London / South Central) finished ninth in the shot put with a distance of 14.53 meters. Kiesel also competed in the discus throw, placing 14th with a mark of 35.45 meters.
On the relay side:
- In the 4x400 relay crew, junior All-OAC Nick Young (Wadsworth), freshman All-OAC Dillon Hach (Medina), sophomore All-OAC Kaeden Faggs (Marion / Harding), and freshman All-OAC Wesley Noeth (Powell / Olentangy Liberty) finished third in a time of 3:15.83.
The Yellow Jackets will now wait and see which student-athletes qualify for the 2024 NCAA Division III Outdoor National Championships, hosted May 23-25 by Coastal Carolina (S.C.) University in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
