MEADVILLE, Pa. – The Baldwin Wallace University men's tennis team opened the fall portion of its 2024-25 schedule as it competed in the rain shortened Allegheny College Invitational.
The two-day invitational was shortened to just one day after inclement weather canceled the first day of action on Saturday. With only one day of competition, each competitor played one singles match and two doubles matches.
Singles
- Junior All-Ohio Athletic Conference and Academic All-OAC Will Horvath (Oregon/Clay) defeated Will Jarvie of Allegheny by scores of 6-1 and 7-5
- Freshman Vinny Cannata (Aurora) defeated Andrew Kautz of Allegheny by scores of 6-4 and 6-1
- Freshman Will Westberry (Niles, Mich./St. Joseph's {Ind.}) defeated Alex Harcourt of Allegheny by scores of 6-3 and 6-2
Doubles
- Freshmen Tyler Fenton (Williamstown, W. Va.) and Westberry earned one win as they defeated Justin Hardie and Evan Nelson of Allegheny by a score of 6-1
BW is back in action on Saturday, September 7 when it hosts a pair of non-conference matches on the Pop Collins Tennis Courts. The Yellow Jackets host its home opener with a men's and women's doubleheader against Washington and Jefferson (Pa.) College at 1 p.m. BW closes out the day when it hosts Westminster (Pa.) College at 5 p.m.
