Hofmeister Earns 1,000th Career Kill as Men's Volleyball Sweeps MSOE in Home Opener

BEREA, Ohio - The Baldwin Wallace University men's volleyball team opened its 2025 home schedule as it swept non-conference opponent Milwaukee (Wis.) School of Engineering in its first of three matches in the BW Invitational. 

The Yellow Jackets (3-1) defeated the Raiders by set scores of 25-15, 25-15, and 25-12. In the first set, senior All-Midwest Collegiate Volleyball outside hitter Ted Hofmeister (Powell / Saint Charles) recorded his 1,000th career kill. Hofmeister now joins senior All-MCVL outside hitter Michael Beard (Hilliard / Darby) as the program's only players with 1,000+ kills.
  • Hofmeister led the team in kills with eight and in digs with 11 during his landmark game
  • Beard finished with seven kills and six digs
  • Sophomore outside hitter Daniel Latham (Westerville / Westerville Central) finished with six aces and three kills
  • Senior Academic All-MCVL setter Carson Junker (Massillon / Jackson) recorded a team-high 15 assists and senior Academic All-MCVL setter Evan Herbst (Hamburg, N.Y.) contributed nine assists
  • Sophomore All-MCVL outside hitter Jacob Esteves (Wickliffe / St. Edward) and senior All-MCVL middle hitter Reed Fisher (Freedom, Pa. / Ambridge Area) each added five kills
  • Junior Academic All-MCVL middle hitter Josh Steinitz (Towson, Md. / Friends School of Baltimore) tallied three assists with two kills
  • Sophomore Academic All-MCVL middle hitter Bobby Mayberry (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Upper St. Clair) recorded his first career kill
The Yellow Jackets are back in action on Saturday, Jan. 25 as the team hosts No. 13 University of California, Santa Cruz in its second of three matches in the BW Invitational. The match is set to begin at 6:00 pm in Ursprung Gymnasium inside the Lou Higgins Center.
