BEREA, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University men's swimming and diving team opened the 2025-26 and Ohio Athletic Conference season by falling to Wilmington College by a final score of 116-73 in the BW Natatorium inside the Lou Higgins Center.
BW (0-1, 0-1 OAC) won four individual races. Wilmington (1-0, 1-0 OAC) won five individual races and both relays.
Individuals
- Senior Academic All-OAC freestyler Kevin Meyer (Mentor) won the 100-yard in a time of 53.27
- Junior stroker Michael Gruber III (Sagamore Hills/Nordonia) won the 1000-yard freestyle in a time of 11:33.59
- Freshman freestyler Xavier Hatfield (North Royalton) won the 50-yard freestyle in a and was second in the 100-yard freestyle in times of 25:24 and 55.89, respectively.
- Sophomore freestyler Mason Carnahan (Willard) won the 500-yard freestyle and took third in the 200-yar freestyle in times of 5:34.24 and 1:58.09, respectively
- Sophomore stroker Danny Murphy (Herndon, Va./South Lakes) finished second in the 100-yard butterfly, third in the 100-yard breaststroke and third in the 200-yard individual medley and third in times of 58.50, 1:07.97, and 2:09.28, respectively
- Senior stroker Nolan Szuch (Springboro) took third in a time of 57.75
Relays
- The 200-yard medley team of Szuch, Carnahan, Murphy and Hatfield took second in a time of 1:47.80
- The 200-yard freestyle unit of Meyer, freshman stroker Aidan Bacon (Upper Sandusky), junior stroker Alex Cooper (Columbus/Thomas Worthington) and Gruber in a time of 1:49.08
The Yellow Jackets are back in action on Saturday, October 25 when they host a pair of non-conference dual meets against Allegheny (Pa.) College and Fredonia (N.Y.) University at 11 a.m.
