BEREA, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University men's swimming and diving team earned its first wins of the seasons as it defeated Allegheny (Pa.) College and Fredonia (N.Y.) University in a tri-meet in the BW Natatorium inside the Lou Higgins Center.
BW (2-1) defeated Allegheny by a score of 139-45 and Fredonia by a score of 160-32.
Individuals
- Sophomore stroker Danny Murphy (Herndon, Va./South Lakes) won the 100-yard butterfly and 200-yard individual medley in times of 56.12 and 2:11.36, respectively
- Freshman diver Malcolm Thompson (Pittsburgh, Pa./Mount Lebanon) won the 1-meter and 3-meter with total points of 262.55 and 255.10, respectively
- Senior Academic All-OAC freestyler Kevin Meyer (Mentor) won the 100-yard freestyle in a time of 53.24 and took second in the 200-yard freestyle in a time of 1:57.49
Senior stroker Tyler Warner (Mexico, N.Y./Mexico Academy) won the 100-yard breaststroke in a time of 1:09.02 and took second in the 500-yard freestyle in a time of 5:35.01
- Junior stroker Michael Gruber III (Sagamore Hills/Nordonia) won the 1000-yard freestyle in a time of 11:35.93
- Senior stroker Nolan Szuch (Springboro) won the 100-yard backstroke in a time of 58.62
- Freshman freestyler Xavier Hatfield (North Royalton) took the second in the 50-yard freestyle in a time of 25.63
Relays
- The 200-yard medley unit of Szuch, Warner, freshman stroker Aidan Bacon (Upper Sandusky) and Hatfield won in a time of 1:50.27
- The 400-yard freestyle quad of Murphy, Gruber, sophomore freestyler Mason Carnahan (Williard) and Meyer won in a time of 3:39.51
The Yellow Jackets are back in action on Saturday, November 1 when they travel to Delaware for a non-conference dual meet against Ohio Wesleyan University in the Pfeiffer Natatorium inside the Meek Aquatics and Recreation Center at 1 p.m.
