Jason Heisler (Saline, Mich.) was named the OAC Men's Diver of the Year and senior All-OAC and Academic All-OAC stroker
Tommie McQueary (Batavia/Bethel Tate) won his third straight 200-yard butterfly as the men's swimming and diving team placed fourth at the OAC Championships hosted by the Yellow Jackets inside the Ocasek Natatorium on the campus of the University of Akron.
BW was fourth of six teams with 397 points. John Carroll University, who is moving to the North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) next season, won its ninth straight and final championship, as the Blue Streaks are moving to the North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) with 933 points.
Individuals
- Heisler earned the OAC Men's Diver of the Year Award after winning the 1-meter with a career-best and NCAA B cut 536.80 points. He won the 3-meter on Friday. Heisler finishes his career with six All-OAC honors and two OAC Championships
- McQueary won the 200-yard butterfly for the third straight year in an OAC-record, school-record and NCCA B cut time of 1:48.02. He also won the 100-yard butterfly on Friday night. McQueary ends his career with six All-OAC accolades and four OAC Championships
- Junior diver Tyler Warner (Mexico, N.Y./Mexico Academy) earned his first All-OAC honor as he was the runner-up in the 1-meter with a career-best 355.35 points. Warner also took 11th in the 1650-yard freestyle in a career-best time of 17:40.26
- Senior All-OAC stroker Austin Kingsley (Northport, N.Y.), who set the school-record and had the fastest qualifying time with a 1:53.31, finished fourth in the 200-yard backstroke in a time of 1:53.38
- Junior stroker Nolan Szuch (Springboro) placed sixth in the 200-yard backstroke in a time of 1:57.92
- Junior stroker Matias Cordero (Cuenca, Ecuador/Joseph de Jussieu) took 10th in the 100-yard freestyle in a career-best time of 46.61
- Senior stroker Erik Tagg (Pittsburg, Pa./Chartiers Valley) was 13th in the 200-yard backstroke in a time of 2:12.30 and 16th in the 1650-yard freestyle in a time of 18:34.73
- Junior freestyler Kevin Meyer (Mentor) was 13th in the 1650-yard freestyle in a time of 17:55.08
- Freshman stroker Danny Murphy (Herndon, Va./South Lakes) was 13th in the 200-yard butterfly in a time of 2:07.05.
- Sophomore freestyler Michael Gruber (Sagamore Hills/Nordonia) was 15th in the 1650-yard freestyle in a career-best time of 18:25.32
- Senior stroker Luke Minick (Stow/Archbishop Hoban) was 16th in the 100-yard freestyle in a career-best time of 49.54
Relays
- The 400-yard freestyle unit of McQueary, Kingsley, Minick and Cordero took fifth in a time of 3:10.84
The Yellow Jackets are back in action on Friday and Saturday, February 28 and March 1 when they travel to Granville to compete in the NCAA Division III Regional Diving Championships hosted by Denison University inside the Trumbull Aquatics Center.
