Mincey and Coaching Staff Earn OAC Honors of the Year, Women’s Swimming and Diving Finishes Second

AKRON, Ohio –  Baldwin Wallace University freshman diver Makenna Mincey (Brunswick/Magnificat) was named the Ohio Athletic Conference Women's Diver of the Year and Head Coach Laura Demaline and her staff were named OAC Staff of the Year as the women's swimming and diving team finished in second place at the OAC Championships hosted by the Yellow Jackets inside the Ocasek Natatorium on the campus of the University of Akron.

BW was second of six teams with 661.5 points.  The second place marked the highest finish for the Yellow Jackets since the 2005 season when they were the OAC Champions. John Carroll University, who is moving to the North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) next season, won its ninth straight and final championship, as the Blue Streaks are moving to the North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) with 1010 points.

Individuals
  • Mincey earned the diver of the year as she won the 1-meter on Friday night and was the runner-up in the 3-meter with a career-best and an NCAA B cut 447.10 points tonight.  She is now a two-time All-OAC diver
  • Senior All-OAC and Academic All-OAC stroker Mallory Dondorfer (Mentor) earned her 10th career All-OAC honor as she was the runner-up in the 200-yard butterfly in a time of 2:12.42
  • Freshman diver Emmalie Mitzel (Massillon/Jackson) earned her second career All-OAC accolade as she took third in the 3-meter with a career-best and NCAA B cut 433.90 points.
  • Freshman stroker Brooke Radcliffe (North Canton/Hoover) earned her first career All-OAC honor as she finished third in the 200-yard backstroke in a career-best time of 2:13.13
  • Sophomore All-OAC diver Ella Steen (Madison/Riverside) finished fourth in the 3-meter with 396.20 points
  • Sophomore All-OAC freestyler Melina Roberts (Westlake) placed fourth in the 1650-yard freestyle in a career-best time of 19:01.46
  • Freshman freestyler Kate Harrington (Falls Church, Va./George C. Marshall) finished fourth in the 100-yard freestyle in a time of 55.39
  • Sophomore All-OAC diver Isabel Hershkovitz (Strongsville) placed fifth in the 3-meter with 346.05 points
  • Junior stroker Mallory Upcraft (Oswego, N.Y.) placed sixth in the 200-yard butterfly in a time of 2:15.81
  • Sophomore freestyler Kaela Galion (Valley City/Buckeye) finished seventh in the 1650-yard freestyle in a career-best time of 19:56.96
  • Sophomore freestyler Ashley Slife (Westfield Center/Cloverleaf) placed eighth in the 200-yard backstroke in a career-best time of 2:17.24
  • Freshman freestyler Annalise Bolton (Berea/Berea-Midpark) took eighth in the 1650-yard freestyle in a time of 20:09.41
  • Sophomore stroker Abby Marquardt (Pickerington/Central) took ninth in the 200-yard breaststroke in a career-best time of 2:37.36
  • Freshman freestyler Amelia Wands (East Amherst, N.Y./Williamsville North) was ninth in the 100-yard freestyle in a career-best time of 55.54
  • Senior freestyler Brooklyn Duguay (Aurora) was 10th in the 1650-yard freestyle in a career-best time of 20:12.87
  • Junior Academic All-OAC freestyler Ariel Lisy (Strongsville) was 10th in the 200-yard backstroke in a time of 2:19.35
  • Freshman freestyler Addie Darding (Columbus/Upper Arlington) was 15th in the 100-yard freestyle in a career-best time of 59.73
  • Sophomore Zoey Hicks (Perry) was 16th in the 200-yard breaststroke in a career-best time of 2:54.47
Relays
  • The 400-yard freestyle unit of Dondorfer, Harrington, Radcliffe and Upcraft earned All-OAC honors as they were the runner-up in a time of 3:38.37
BW is back in action on Friday and Saturday, February 28 and March 1 when it travels to Granville to compete in the NCAA Division III Regional Diving Championships hosted by Denison University inside the Trumbull Aquatics Center.
