No. 5 Men’s Wrestling Wins School Record Fifth Straight OAC Championships, Corrals Cardinals

BEREA, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University men's wrestling team won its school record fifth straight Ohio Athletic Conference Championships as it defeated Otterbein University by a final score of 44-6 in the Ursprung Gymnasium inside the Lou Higgins Center.

BW, who bested the previous school record of four consecutive from 2015-19, finished its dual season with an overall record of 13-4 as well as going undefeated in OAC action for the fifth straight season with a mark of 7-0.   The Yellow Jackets have won 46 straight OAC matches.

BW won the first six matches and eight of the 10.   The Yellow Jackets improved to 9-0 all-time against Otterbein (5-9, 3-4 OAC)

  • 125-pounds:  Freshman Dorian Hoffman (Luzerne, Pa./Wyoming Valley) won by forfeit
  • 133-pounds:  Senior All-American and No. 4 nationally ranked Jaden Hinton (Glassboro, N.J.) won by pinfall in 4:16
  • 141-pounds:  Senior All-OAC and Academic All-OAC Robby Palmieri (Gibsonia, Pa./Pine Richland) won an 18-1 technical fall
  • 149-pounds:  Junior Manny Scordos (Brecksville/Brecksville-Broadview Heights) won a 17-2 technical fall
  • 157-pounds: Senior All-American and No. 1 nationally ranked Michael Petrella (Reynoldsburg/Bishop Hartley) won a 19-1 technical fall
  • 165-pounds:  Sophomore All-OAC and No. 5 nationally ranked Andrew Supers (Medina) won by pinfall in 2:44
  • 174-pounds: Senior Brandon Burkhart (Olmsted Township/Olmsted Falls) loss a 6-2 decision
  • 184-pounds:  Junior Academic All-OAC Remington Bauer (Norwalk/Edison) won a 20-5 technical fall
  • 197-pounds:  Senior Academic All-OAC and No. 8 nationally ranked Joey Petrella (Reynoldsburg/Bishop Hartley) won by pinfall in 3:27
  • 285-pounds: Senior Evan Daniels (McDonald, Pa./Madonna {W. Va.}) loss a 5-1 decision
BW is back in action on Saturday, February 8 when it hosts the 38th John Summa Invitational and Seniors' Day inside the Lou Higgins Center Fieldhouse at 10 a.m.
