MANHEIM, Pa. – Six Baldwin Wallace University women's wrestling student-athletes have been recognized by the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) as Scholar All-Americans.
To qualify for Scholar All-American honors, a student-athletes must excel both on the mat and in the classroom by meeting one of the following academic and athletic criteria:
- A top eight placer at nationals and at least a 3.0 cumulative grade point average
- Competed in a minimum of 15 matches that are recorded in Trackwrestling and has at least a 3.5 cumulative grade point average
- Was a national qualifier and has at least a 3.25 cumulative grade point average
The six BW wrestlers to earn Scholar All-American accolades were freshman 117-pounder
Victoria Bernard (Buellton, Calif./Dos Pueblos), freshman 180-pounder
Gillian Coulson (Lakewood), freshman 124-pounder
Abby DiCenzo (Tampa, Fla./Bell Creek Academy), freshman 160-pounder
Hattie Rose Hobar (Avon Lake), freshman 207-pounder
Gabby Kennedy (Dayton/Chaminade-Julienne) and freshman 160-pound national qualifier
Leyna Rumpler (Wexford, Pa./North Allegheny).
Bernard, who carries 3.56 grade point average in creative writing, garners her first accolade. This season, she won seven matches.
Bernard tallied three falls and one technical fall.
Coulson, who carries a 3.87 grade point average in sport management and marketing, earns her fist honor. This season, she won 13 matches.
Coulson recorded four pins and two technical falls.
DiCenzo, who carries a 4.00 grade point average in biology and sport management, garners her first accolade. This season, she tied for third on the team in wins with 18.
DiCenzo led the team in technical falls with six. She was also tied for sixth in the team in pins with nine.
Hobar, who carries a 3.80 grade point average in theater design and technical production, earns her first honor. This season, she won 13 matches.
Hobar tallied nine pins and two technical falls.
Kennedy, who carries a 3.92 grade point average in visual communication design, garners her first accolade. This season, she tied for fourth on the team in wins with 17.
Kennedy tied for fourth in pins with 10. She added two technical falls.
Rumpler, who carries a 3.48 grade point average in political science, earns her first honor. This season, she was one of two wrestlers to qualify for the national championships as she was the runner-up at 160 pounds.
Rumpler earned All-Region 7 honors. was second on the team in wins with 31. She tied for second on the quad with 12 pins.
Rumpler also added four technical falls.
BW, who was in its inaugural season, finished the 2024-25 campaign with an overall record of 2-1. The Yellow Jackets finished fourth at the NCWWC Region 4 Championships.
