HIRAM, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University baseball team earned a non-conference road win as it defeated Hiram College by a final score of 11-6 at Fishel Field at Proverbs Park.
The Yellow Jackets (21–12) led 10–0 through six innings before Hiram (12-18-1) rallied for six in the seventh. BW tacked on an insurance run in the ninth and held on to secure the win.
Scoring Plays
- Top 1st - Senior All-OAC shortstop Sean Kolenich (Parma/St. Edward) singled to center to bring in a run and start the scoring
- Top 2nd - Senior All-OAC left fielder Joey Marousek (North Royalton) delivered a two-run single to give BW a 3-0 lead
- Top 4th - Carinci blasted a three-run homer to left
- Top 5th - Senior Academic All-OAC catcher Eric Coode (Painesville/Mentor) extended the lead with an RBI single
- Top 5th - Senior Academic All-OAC second baseman Noah English (Perrysburg) scored on an RBI single by Marousek
- Top 6th - Sophomore pinch hitter Colin West (Westborough, Mass./Worcester Academy) hit a sac fly to right
- Top 6th - English added an RBI single to put the Jackets up 10
- Top 9th - Sophomore pinch hitter Ryan Gordon (Strongsville) added an RBI double
At the Plate
- Marousek went 3-for-4 with three RBIs, a stolen base, and a run scored
- Carinci finished 2-for-4 with a home run, three RBIs, and a run scored
- Kolenich was 3-for-6 with an RBI and a run
- Junior All-OAC center fielder Dennis Ritlinger-Nirider (Grove City) added two hits and scored once
- English went 3-for-5 with three runs scored and an RBI
- Sophomore third baseman Carson Petrecca (Willowick/Eastlake North) doubled, walked, and scored twice
- Sophomore first baseman Harrison Johnson (Mason/William Mason) went 2-for-3 with a double
- Coode collected a hit, scored twice, and drove in a run
- Gordon drove in a run with a pinch-hit double
On the Mound
- Senior All-OAC right-hander Dylan Snyder (Stow/Archbishop Hoban) earned his second win of the season with 6.0 shutout innings, scattering four hits and striking out three
- Sophomore right-hander Will Henderlich (Madison) pitched two innings in relief, striking out four
- Senior right-hander Patrick Straub (Naperville, Ill./Metea Valley) tossed a perfect ninth inning with two strikeouts
