Baseball Rallies to Defeat Washington & Jefferson (Pa.)

WASHINGTON, Pa. - The Baldwin Wallace University baseball team earned a non-conference road win as it defeated Washington & Jefferson (Pa.) College by a final score of 7-5 at Ross Memorial Park.

The Yellow Jackets (24-13) trailed 3-1 through five innings before erupting for five runs in the sixth. BW added an insurance run in the ninth and held off a late W&J rally to secure the victory.

Scoring Plays
  • Top 3rd -- Senior right fielder Justin Carinci (Ajax, Ontario/Pickering) opened the scoring with an RBI single
  • Bot 3rd -- W&J's Drew Garth blasted a three-run homer to right field
  • Top 6th -- Senior Academic All-OAC first baseman Noah English (Perrysburg) hit a sacrifice fly to cut the deficit to 3-2
  • Top 6th -- Senior first baseman Nathan Zinn (Columbus/Worthington Kilbourne) delivered a grand slam to left field
  • Bot 8th -- W&J's Brian Feldman doubled down the right field line to drive in a run
  • Top 9th -- Junior Academic All-OAC shortstop Matt Terzola (Uniontown/Archbishop Hoban) scored on an error
  • Bot 9th -- W&J's Drew Garth singled through the left side for an RBI
At the Plate
  • Carinci went 2-for-5 with an RBI, three stolen bases, and two runs scored
  • Zinn finished 1-for-1 with a home run, four RBIs, and a run scored
  • Senior All-OAC left fielder Joey Marousek (North Royalton) added a hit
  • Terzola singled and scored a run
  • English drove in a run with a sacrifice fly
On the Mound
  • Senior All-OAC right-hander Dylan Snyder (Stow/Archbishop Hoban) earned his third win of the season with 8.0 innings, allowing just one earned run on six hits while striking out two
  • Junior All-OAC right-hander Tyler Walker (Fairlawn/Copley) secured his first save of the season despite allowing an unearned run in the ninth
