No. 20 Men's Volleyball Drops Regular Season Finale to Mount Union on Seniors' Day

BEREA, Ohio - The No. 20 nationally ranked Baldwin Wallace University men's volleyball team celebrated Seniors' Day where it was defeated by the University of Mount Union in a Midwest Collegiate Volleyball League match by a final score of 3-2 in Ursprung Gymnasium inside the Lou Higgins Center.

Prior to the game, BW (18-10, 6-2 MCVL) honored seniors Michael Devlin, Reed Fisher, Evan Herbst, Carson Junker, and Marquis Kelly. The Yellow Jackets fell to an early two-set deficit against Mount Union (18-8, 8-0 MCVL) but charged back to force a fifth and the final set of the regular season. With the winner likely hosting the 2025 MCVL Tournament, the Purple Raiders came out hot in the final set and never looked back to clinch the MCVL regular season title.

BW Leaders 

  • Senior Academic All-MCVL setter Evan Herbst (Hamburg, N.Y.) tallied a career-high 38 assists in his final home game for the Brown and Gold and also notched eight digs
  • Sophomore outside hitter Daniel Latham (Westerville/Westerville Central) finished with a match-high 22 kills for his fifth 20+ kill game of the season while adding nine digs and three service aces
  • Freshman libero David Abercrombie (Maricopa, Ariz.) led the team with 13 digs and recorded an assist
  • Senior All-MCVL outside hitter Ted Hofmeister (Powell/Saint Charles) finishes in double-figures for the seventeen time this season with 14 kills
  • Senior All-MCVL middle hitter Reed Fisher (Freedom, Pa./Ambridge Area) finished with a team-best four blocks and had four kills in his final game at Ursprung Gymnasium
  • Senior All-MCVL outside hitter Michael Beard (Hilliard/Darby) had five kills on seven attempts along with six digs and two block assists

  • Senior outside hitter Jack McClure led the Purple Raider offense with 19 kills
  • Senior setter Will Heeney led all players with 41 assists
  • Sophomore Peyton Koszelak tallied a team-best 10 digs

The Yellow Jackets will open the Midwest Collegiate Volleyball League Tournament hosted by the University of Mount Union on Friday, April 11 as they will take on the third-seeded Wittenberg University in Timken Gymnasium at the McPherson Academic and Athletic Complex.
