Petrella and Ressler Named 2025 Clyde Lamb Award Recipients

WESTERVILLE, Ohio – Senior All-American 157-pound men's wrestler Michael Petrella (Reynoldsburg/Bishop Hartley) and senior All-American guard/forward Caely Ressler (Napoleon) have been selected as 2024-25 Baldwin Wallace University Clyde Lamb Award recipients.

Petrella and Ressler, who were selected by the coaching staff as the male and female recipients, were presented their awards at the annual Ohio Athletic Conference Clyde Lamb Awards dinner on May 12.

The Clyde A. Lamb Awards are presented annually to 10 male and 10 female student-athletes from each of the Ohio Athletic Conference institutions. Criteria for the award includes at least two years participation in an OAC-sponsored sport, senior status, a minimum GPA of 3.00 and sportsmanlike conduct in a manner that has brought credit to the student-athlete and his or her institution.

Petrella, who becomes the sixth men's wrestler to garner the accolade, capped off an illustrious career in stellar fashion by winning his third consecutive NCAA Division III National Championship and winning 116 straight matches.   This season, he went an impressive 40-0 with 18 pins, 15 technical falls and three major decisions.  Petrella ended his perfect season by winning the 157-pound title with a 4-2 decision.  He was a six-time OAC Men's Wrestler of the Week Award winner and a four-time invitational champion. For his career, Petrella was a four-time All-American, four-time national finalist, four-time All-OAC first-team selection, the 2024 OAC Men's Wrestler of the Year, the 2024 NCAA Division III Central Region Most Outstanding Wrestler, the 2024 The Open Mat.com NCAA Division III Men's Wrestler of the Year, and a three-time NCAA Division III champion at two different weight classes (149 and 157 pounds).  He is the winningest wrestler in school history with a record of 155-4. Petrella recorded 61 pins, 39 technical falls and 19 major decisions.  Off the mat, he is a National Wrestling Coaches Association Scholar All-American.

Ressler, who becomes the 14th women's basketball player to earn the honor, concluded her career by leading the team to the school's fourth NCAA Division III Tournament Elite 8 appearance.  This season, she appeared and started in all 31 games.  Ressler led the team in scoring with 342 total points, including a team-best 42 made three-pointers for an average of 11 points-per-game. She was second on the team and tied for third in the OAC with 205 rebounds.  Ressler was also second on the team and fourth in the OAC in blocks with 23.  She posted two double-doubles and tallied 43 steals and 45 assists. Ressler was named the 2024 Baldwin Wallace Invitational Most Valuable Player, the OAC Tournament MVP, and earned OAC Player of the Week honors on February 10. In her career, Ressler appeared in 108 games making 81 starts. She recorded 938 points, including 109 threes.  Ressler tallied 653 rebounds, 147 assists, 114 steals, and 62 blocks. She was a three-time All-OAC selection and a three-time OAC Player of the Week Award winner. Off the court, Ressler is a three-time Academic All-OAC honoree, College Sports Communicators Academic All-District selection, Dean's List student, Jacket Scholar and a member of the Member of the Chi Alpha Sigma and Dayton C. Miller honoraries
