Men’s Volleyball Earns Clean Sweep of Mount St. Joseph

CINCINNATI, Ohio - The Baldwin Wallace University men's volleyball team swept Mount St. Joseph by scores of 25-15, 25-17, and 25-15 in a Midwest Collegiate Volleyball League match inside the Harrington Center at Mount St. Joseph University.

BW (16-9, 4-2 MCVL) got off to a hot start with a 9-1 lead in the first set. After securing the first set, the Yellow Jackets gave up the first point of the second and third sets. However, those were the only moments BW trailed the entire match. BW started its weekend on the road with a convincing win.

BW Leaders (16-9, 4-2 MCVL)
  • Junior First-Team All-MCVL outside hitter Daniel Latham (Westerville/Westerville Central) and Academic All-MCVL junior right-side hitter Jacob Esteves (Wickliffe/St. Edward) each made 12 kills to lead the team.
  • Senior Academic All-MCVL middle hitter Josh Steinitz (Towson, Md./Friends School of Baltimore) tied his career best with three service aces.
  • Senior Second-Team All-MCVL middle hitter Colby Whiteside (Powell/Olentangy Liberty) totaled five blocks to lead the defense at the net.
  • First-year setter Ethan Gundrum (Cincinnati/McNicholas) made 37 assists as a crucial member of the Brown and Gold offense.

Mount St. Joseph Leaders (6-10, 1-5 MCVL)
  • Jude Lewis had eight kills to be the team leader in that category
  • Reed Carson had seven kills with a team-best .313 hitting percentage
  • Roger Wilcox had three service aces to lead the Lions
