No. 15 Baseball Defeats No. 23 Washington & Jefferson (Pa.) in Top-25 Matchup

WASHINGTON, Pa. --
 The No.15 nationally-ranked Baldwin Wallace University baseball team beat the No. 23 nationally-ranked Washington and Jefferson (Pa.) College Presidents 3-2 in a true battle between two nationally ranked opponents on the field of Alexandre Stadium.

Junior second-basemen Carson Petrecca (Willowick/Eastlake North) led the way for the Yellow Jackets with a career-high four hits and bringing home two out of the three BW runs on the afternoon to bring their record to 25-8 with an OAC record of 11-3.
 
Scoring Summary
Top 2nd - Junior catcher Mason Fixx (Canonsburg, Pa./Canon-McMillan) hit an RBI single to open the scoring for the game
Bottom 3rd – A sacrifice fly from Washington and Jefferson's Josh Dezenzo saw the Presidents tie the game at 1-1
Bottom 5th – The Presidents took the lead 2-1 thanks to a solo home run by Seth Rosenfeld
Top 6th - Petrecca hit a solo home run to tie the game at two
Top 8th – A Petrecca RBI double pushed BW out in front, 3-2 which was good enough to secure the victory for the Yellow Jackets
 
At the Plate
  • Petrecca notched a career-high four hits on 4-for-4 hitting with two doubles, a home run, and two RBI
  • Senior center fielder Dennis Ritlinger-Nirider (Grove City) went 3-for-4 with three singles and a walk
  • Fixx added the other RBI on 1-for-3 hitting
 
On the Mound
  • Sophomore right-hander Micheal DelDuca (Cranberry Township, Pa./Seneca Valley) pitched four innings and gave up two runs
  • Senior left-hander Nolan Kellicker (Dover) pitched 2.2 scoreless innings of relief with 36 pitches thrown
  • Sophomore right-hander Sam Hoffman (Mentor/Notre Dame Cathedral Latin) pitched 2.1 innings of scoreless relief, striking out four and not allowing a runner to reach base; he was also credited with the win
 
Up Next
The Yellow Jackets host Ohio Northern University on April 25th in OAC doubleheader action to finish off conference play. The games are scheduled to start at 1 and 4 p.m. at Fisher Field. Fans can tune into FloCollege for all the action.
