Men’s Volleyball Sweeps Olivet (Mich.) in Pivotal MCVL Matchup

BEREA, Ohio - The Baldwin Wallace University men's volleyball team defeated the University of Olivet (Mich.) by scores of 25-18, 25-20, and 25-22 inside Ursprung Gymnasium in the Lou Higgins Center.

BW (17-10, 5-3 MCVL) got back in the win column going into the final match of the regular season. BW hit .309 as a team in the sweep while Olivet hit .350. 

BW Leaders (17-10, 5-3 MCVL)
  • First-year setter Ethan Gundrum (Cincinnati/McNicholas) gave out a team-high 17 assists
  • First-year outside hitter Tyler Schunk (Eden, N.Y.) and junior right-side hitter Jacob Esteves (Wickliffe/St. Edward) each contributed a team-high nine kills 
  • Schunk led the team in digs with six 
  • Esteves had an efficient .643 hitting percentage on his nine kills on 14 attempts
  • The offensive changemaker Esteves also tied his career-best four service aces and led the team with 13.5 points

Olivet Leaders (5-20, 0-8 MCVL)
  • Silas Martin had a team-high nine kills
  • Austin Chamblee gave out 22 assists while hitting .600
  • Martin and Jared Carter each added six digs 
  • Carter added one block

  • Olivet hit .286
  • BW led in kills with 11

  • BW hit .357
