Baseball to Face John Hopkins (Md.) in First World Series Game

#10 Baseball to Begin World Series with #7 John Hopkins (Md.)

BEREA, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University Baseball team is set to play John Hopkins (Md.) University on Friday, May 29 to begin the NCAA Division III Baseball College World Series at Classic AutoGroup Park in Eastlake, Ohio, home of the Lake County Captains, High-A Affiliate of the Cleveland Guardians.

 

The tournament is a double-elimination format, with the Brown and Gold playing their first game of the weekend at 10 a.m. on Friday. If they win, they will play the winner of game two, which is between Denison University and East Texas Baptist University at 1:15 p.m. If they lose, they will play the loser of this game in a one-game single elimination battle at 10 a.m., both on Saturday May 30.

 

There will be games each day from May 29 until June 1, with the Championship Series beginning on Wednesday, June 3 and ending on June 4 with potentially two games that day. The first game starts at noon on Wednesday and game two is at 11 a.m. the next day, with a potential game three starting 45 minutes after the conclusion of game two.

 

The World Series appearance is the fourth in program history. In their last appearance (2023), they lost in the championship series two games to one against John Hopkins. The schools met once in the regular season back on February 23, with Hopkins winning by a score of 5-4 at their ballpark.
