Baseball Ends NCAA DIII World Series Journey in Loss to Denison

EASTLAKE, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University baseball team dropped its third contested game of the NCAA Division III College World Series against Denison University by a final score of 6-4 to conclude its 2026 season.


For the first time of the weekend, the Yellow Jackets started the game in front, leading 3-2 in the third inning before allowing runs in the third and fourth to lose control of the lead. They finish the season 37-12 while falling two games short of the Championship Series.


Scoring Summary

  • Top 1st – Sophomore first baseman Matt DelDuca (Cranberry Township, Pa./Seneca Valley) got the scoring going for the Yellow Jackets, with an RBI single for the team's first time scoring in the first inning of the World Series

  • Top 2nd – A little blooper to the third baseman by Senior OAC Player of the Year Dennis Ritlinger-Nirider (Grove City) saw a single as well as a fielding error, which scored two runs

  • Top 7thDelDuca had his second RBI single of the day to end a scoreless drought that lasted five innings for BW

At the Plate

  • Junior designated hitter Colin West (Westborough, Mass./Worcester Academy) finished the day going 2-for-4 with a walk 

  • DelDuca was 2-for-4 on the day with two RBI hits to help the offense

  • Senior right fielder John Panstares (Westlake/St. Ignatius) was 2-for-4 on the day while scoring one of the Yellow Jacket runs

  • Senior shortstop Matt Terzola (Uniontown/Archbishop Hoban) had two walks to contribute to the offense

  • Ritlinger-Nirider was 1-for-4 and walked in the top of the ninth to extend the game

On the Mound

  • Senior left-hander Nolan Kellicker (Dover) was the starting pitcher for the Yellow Jackets on just one day's rest, going 1 2/3 innings, giving up one run, and not issuing a walk
  • Freshman right-hander Matthew Anzalone (Buffalo, N.Y./St Joes Collegiate Institute) pitched two scoreless innings in the middle innings without issuing a walk
