BW ATHLETICS INFORMATION: Paul Szabo played four seasons of baseball at Baldwin Wallace University and earned one varsity letter. He had his best season as a collegian as a senior.
PAUL'S BASEBALL LEGACY: Paul and the BW senior class of 2016 graduates with a 111-65 record, three OAC Tournament appearances, including advancing to the OAC Championship Game twice, two NCAA Division III National Tournament appearances, including winning one Regional title (Mid-Atlantioc Region inn 2014) and one NCAA Division III College World Series appearance (2014).
THROUGH-THE-YEARS: Paul played four years of baseball, including two seasons as a varsity relief pitcher. He appeared in seven career contests and compiled a 0-0 record with one save and a 7.45 earned run average. In eight and one-third innings pitched, Paul struck out seven opposing batters.
As a freshman in 2012-2013, Paul played his first season of baseball and received a certificate of participation. He split time between the varsity and junior varsity teams. Paul saw action in one varsity contest as a relief pitcher. He tossed one and two-third innings, allowed one hit and two walks and struck out two batters. He posted a 0.00 earned run average and opponents batted just .167 against him. He helped BW win 27 games and compile a 27-13 overall record.
As a sophomore in 2013-2014, Paul played his second season of baseball and earned a certificate of participation. He saw all of his playing time on the JV team. BW set a single-season school-record with 30 victories, compile a 30-20 record, finish second at the OAC Tournament, win the NCAA Division III Mid-Atlantic Region title and advance to the school's first-ever NCAA Division III College World Series.
As a junior in 2014-2015, Paul played his third season of baseball and received a certificate of participation. He saw all of his playing time on the JV team. BW finished with a school-record 31 victories and a 31-12 record. The Yellow Jackets finished fourth at the OAC Tournament and advanced to their second straight NCAA Division III Regional Tournament.
As a senior in 2015-2016, Paul played his fourth season of baseball and earned his first letter. He appeared in a career-high six games and compiled a 0-0 record with his first career save. In six and two-third innings, he allowed 11 hits and eight runs (seven earned). He struck out five and walked four. BW finished 23-20 overall record, tied for second in the OAC with a 13-5 mark and advanced to the OAC Championship Game.
