ACADEMIC MAJOR:  Education

STEVE MONTGOMERY'S AREER SYNOPSIS:  Steve played four seasons on the varsity and helped the Yellow Jackets to compile a 106-69 record with one trip to the NCAA Division III College World Series and in two OAC Championship games. The three-year varsity letterman mainly saw action at the middle infield positions of second base and shortstop. He was a starter part time as a junior and full time as a senior.

Individually, Steve played in 113 games and batted .254 (60 for 236) with 43 runs scored, 12 doubles, 38 runs batted-in (RBI) and eight stolen bases.

STEVE'S CAREER THROUGH-THE-YEARS:  As a freshman in 2013-2014, Steve played his first season of baseball and received a certificate of participation. He split time between the varsity and junior varsity teams as a backup middle infielder. He appeared in 13 varsity games and recorded one base hit in eight at-bats for a .125 batting average with two runs batted-in (RBI). He helped BW compile a single-season school-record 30 victories, a 30-20 overall record, a second place finish at the Ohio Athletic Conference Tournament, win the NCAA Divisionn III Mid-Atlantic Region Tournament and make its first-ever appearance at the Division III College World Series.

As a sophomore in 2014-2015, Steve played his second season of baseball and earned his first varsity letter. The second baseman played in 26 games, including one start, and batted .176 (3-for-17) with one run scored and two RBI. BW finished with a school-record 31 victories and a 31-12 record. The Yellow Jackets finished fourth at the OAC Tournament and advanced to their second straight NCAA Division III Regional Tournament.

As a junior in 2015-2016, Steve played his third season of baseball and earned his second letter. He split time between second base and shortstop. Steve had the best game of his career in a 23-0 win versus Capital University on April 23, 2016 when he went 5-for-5 (five singles) with four runs scored, two RBI and reached base all six times (also HBP). Overall, Steve played in 35 games, including 28 starts, and batted .283 (26-for-92) with 20 runs scored, four doubles, 10 RBI and two steals in two attempts. He also has a very solid .953 fielding average (six errors in 128 total chances). BW finished 23-20 overall, tied for second in the OAC at 13-5 and advanced to the OAC Championship Game.

As a senior in 2016-2017, Steve played his fourth season of baseball and earned his third letter. He started at shortstop. Steve played in all 39 games and started 38. He hit .252 (30 for 119) with 22 runs scored, eight doubles, 15 RBI and six steals in 11 attempts. He had a solid .947 fielding average as SS. BW finished 22-17 overall and 10-8 in the OAC.
