ACADEMIC MAJOR: Health and Physical Education
BW ATHLETICS INFORMATION: Tom Loeffler played four seasons of baseball at Baldwin Wallace University and earned four varsity letters. He was an outstanding relief pitcher who had his best season as a senior.
LOEFFLER'S BASEBALL LEGACY: Tom and the BW senior class of 2016 graduates with a 111-65 record, three Ohio Athletic Conference Tournament appearances, including advancing to the OAC Championship Game twice, two NCAA Division III National Tournament appearances, including winning one Regional title (Mid-Atlantioc Region inn 2014) and one NCAA Division III College World Series appearance (2014).
OAC ALL-TOURNAMENT TEAM: As a senior in 2015-2016, Tom was selected to the OAC Tournament All-Tournament Team for his efforts.
CAREER SYNPOSIS: Tom pitched in 46 career games, including two starts, and compiled a 4-1 record with three saves and a 3.49 earned run average. He allowed 73 hits and struck out 66 opposing batters.
THROUGH-THE-YEARS: As a freshman in 2012-2013, Tom played his first season of baseball and earned his first varsity letter. He appeared in 14 games, including one start, and compiled a 0-0 record with a 5.03 earned run average (ERA) and 14 strikeouts in 19 and two-third innings pitched. BW finished 27-13 overall and tied the school single-season record for victories.
As a sophomore in 2013-2014, Tom played his second season of baseball and earned his second varsity letter. He appeared in nine games, including one start, and compiled a 0-0 record with a 4.61 ERA and nine strikeouts in 13 and two-thirds innings pitched. He helped BW to win a single-season school-record 30 games, compile a 30-20 record, win the Division III Mid-Atlantic Regional and advance to the school's first-ever Division III World Series.
As a junior in 2014-2015, Tom played in his third season of baseball and earned his third letter. He appeared in eight games, all in relief, and compiled a 2-0 record with a 2.70 ERA with nine strikouts in 10 innings pitched. BW finished with a school-record 31 victories and a 31-12 record. The Yellow Jackets finished fourth at the OAC Tournament and advanced to their second straight NCAA Division III Regional Tournament.
As a senior in 2015-2016, Tom played his fourth season of baseball and earned his fourth letter. He had his best season as a collegian. Tom earned 2016 OAC Tournament All-Tournament honors. It included a career-long 10-inning relief appearance in a 7-6 win versus host Otterbein University. Tom appeared in a career-high 15 games, compiled a 2-0 record with two saves and a career-low 2.34 ERA. He struck out 34 opposing batters in 34 innings pitched. BW finished 23-20 overall record, tied for second in the OAC with a 13-5 mark and advanced to the OAC Championship Game.
