ACADEMIC MAJOR:   Political Science

BW ATHLETICS INFORMATION:  Zach Ferster played seasons of baseball at Baldwin Wallace University (2012-2015). The four-year letterman twice earned All-Ohio Athletic Conference honors.

ACADEMIC HONORS: Zach carried a 3.49 grade point average, was a Dean's List student and a Jacket Scholar.

ATHLETICS HONORS:  As a freshman in 2011-2012, Zach was a first-team All-OAC selection. As a senior in 2014-2015, he earned second-team All-OAC honors.

BASEBALL INFORMATION: Zach Ferster was a key four-year member of the baseball program. The versitile student-athlete played first base and in the outfield and was utilized as a designated hitter at times.  He helped the Yellow Jackets compile a four-year mark of 115-58, including two appearances in the OAC Tournament, two berths in the NCAA Division III National Tournament that included a Mid-Atlantic Regional title and the school's first-ever berth in the Div. III College World Series in 2014.

Individually, Zach played in 149 games, including 125 starts, and batted .315 (135-for-429) with 109 runs scored, 25 doubles, eight triples, two home runs, 73 runs batted-in (RBI) and 54 stolen bases in 60 attempts (90 percent efficency). He also had a .424 slugging average and a .426 on-base average.  His 18-for-18 mark for stolen bases as a sophomore is a school single-season record for efficency.

As a freshman in 2011-2012, Zach played his first season of baseball and earned his first varsity letter. He appeared in all 40 games, including 36 starts. Zach had a .344 (42-for-122) batting average with four doubles, four triples, two home runs and 30 runs batted-in (RBI). He was also 9-for-12 in stolen bases and second on the team in walks with 16. Zach earned first-team All-OAC honors. BW set a single-season school-record with 27 victories and finished 27-13 overall.

 

 

 

 

As a sophomore in 2012-2013, Zach played his second season of baseball and earned his second letter. He appeared in 30 games, including 26 starts, and batted .267 (24-of-90) with 21 runs scored, five doubles and 12 RBI.  He also finished 18-of-18 in stealing bases to tie a school single-season record. BW tied the single-season school-record of 27 victories and finished 27-13 for the second straight season.

As a junior in 2013-2014, Zach played his third season of baseball and earned his third letter. He appeared in 38 games, including 25 starts, and batted .273 (21-for-77) with 26 runs scored, six doubles, two triples and seven RBI. He also was 12-of-14 in stolen bases. Zach helped BW to win a single-season school-record 30 games, compile a 30-20 record, a second place finish at the OAC Tournament, win the NCAA Division III Mid-Atlantic Regional and advance to the school's first-ever Division III College World Series.

As a senior in 2014-2015, Zach played his fourth season of baseball and earned his fourth letter. He played in 41 games, including 38 starts, and batted .343 (48-for-140) with 38 runs scored, 10 doubles, two triples, 24 RBI and 15 steals in 16 attempts. Zach earned second-team All-OAC honors. BW finished with a school-record 31 victories and a 31-12 record. The Yellow Jackets finished fourth at the OAC Tournament and advanced to their second straight NCAA Division III Regional Tournament.

HOMETOWN & HIGH SCHOOL INFORMATION: Zach Ferster grew up in Olmsted Falls, Ohio and graduated from Olmsted Falls High School.

Zach played four years of football and baseball and earned three varsity letters in each.

In football as a senior, Zach was named First-Team All-Southwestern Conference, All-District and Third-Team All-Ohio for his outstanding play on the field.

In baseball as both a junior and senior, Zach was named first-team All-SWC. He also earned second-team All-Ohio accolades as a senior.

FAMILY INFORMATION:  Zach's younger brother, Nate is a sophomore at BW and is a defensive back on the football team.
