Hugh Thorp enters his second season as an athletic communications graduate assistant at Baldwin Wallace University in 2026-27.
Thorp, a native of Mentor, Ohio, serves as the primary contact for baseball, bowling, men's basketball, flag football, golf and soccer.
In his first year at BW, Thorp worked his first Ohio Athletic Conference Soccer Tournament along with his first NCAA Division III Baseball Tournament that saw the Yellow Jackets reach their fourth all-time D3 World Series.
Thorp earned a Bachelor of Arts in journalism from Eastern Michigan University, graduating in May 2025.Â
During his time at Eastern Michigan, Thorp was a media relations intern in the Department of Athletic Media Relations for four years. He also served as a sportswriter for the student newspaper, The Eastern Echo, for two years.
Additionally, Thorp has held roles as a marketing and promotions intern with the Lake County Captains, an independent journalist, and a media relations intern with Siena (N.Y.) University men’s basketball team.
He will be pursuing Master of Business Administration (MBA) in business analytics.
Thorp is a member of College Sports Communicators (CSC).
