Mickey Mental '07 enters his first season as the quarterbacks coach and passing game coordinator at Baldwin Wallace University in 2026.
Mental returns to Berea after serving as the head coach and offensive coordinator at NCAA Division I Weber State (Utah) University from 2023-25. He also served as the offensive coordinator during the 2022 season. Mental mentored 17 All-Big Sky Conference student-athletes, including five to first team honorees, and seven All-American honorees.
Prior to Weber State, he had his first head coaching position at NCAA Division II Notre Dame College from 2019-2022. Mental spent 13 total years at Notre Dame in a variety of coaching roles, including five seasons as the offensive coordinator. As head coach, he posted an overall record of 16-2. In the spring shortened 2021 season, Mental guided the team to a 5-0 record and the Mountain East Conference (MEC) regular season title. The following fall, he led the team to an 11-2 record and a trip to the NCAA Division III playoffs second round.
While at BW, Mental earned a Bachelor of Arts in business administration. He was a four-year quarter back, including a three year starter and a team captain as a senior.
Mental, who is a native of nearby Olmsted Falls, and his wife Jessica have one child.
