HIRAM, OHIO – The Baldwin-Wallace College women's swimming and diving teams swept host Hiram College tonight (Friday, January 20, 2012) at the Alumni Memorial Pool.
The Yellow Jacket women defeated Hiram, 128-103. With the win, the B-W women are now 4-4 overall.
The women were led by sophomore Emma Gerdes (Avon) who won the 200-meter individual medley in 2:43.26 and the 50-meter backstroke in 34.4 seconds. Gerdes swam first leg of the victorious 200-meter medley along with sophomores Angela Musille (Canton/ GlenOak), Kayla Miller (Van Wert), and freshman Carli Dugan (Mentor) with a combined time of 2:14.20.
In addition for the Yellow Jacket women, Dugan won the 200-meter freestyle in 2:25.54, junior Kelsey Richards (Wadsworth) 50-meter freestyle with a time of 30.25 seconds, Miller won the 50-meter butterfly in 33.72 seconds, and Musille 400-meter freestyle in 4:55.54.
Four-time NCAA Division III All-American junior diver Julie Pinter (Broadview Heights/ Brecksville-Broadview Hts.) won the 1-meter event with 251.70 points and won the 3-meter event with 251.90.
The Yellow Jackets return to action tomorrow, Saturday, Jan. 21 when they host OAC rival Ohio Northern University in the B-W Natatorium for Seniors' Day at 1:00 p.m.
