HIRAM, OHIO -- The Baldwin Wallace
University volleyball team was defeated by Hiram College in
straight sets, 3-0 tonight by scores 25-21, 25-21 and 25-16 in the
Price Gymnasium.
With the loss, the Yellow Jackets fall to 3-7 overall and Hiram
improves to 8-2.
BW was led offensively by senior outside hitter Amanda Sawicki (Mentor/ Lake Catholic) with 10
kills. In addition to Sawicki, junior middle
hitters Kayla Harris (Lima) and Colleen
Bonacci (Stow / Stow-Munroe Falls) contributed eight kills
apiece. Junior Emily
Nagle (Columbia Station/Columbia) had 27 set assists
to help set up the Yellow Jacket offense.
Defensively, BW was led by senior libero Natalie Emmons (Ashland) with 17 digs and
junior right side hitter Shannon Deleur (Olmsted Falls) recorded
12.
BW will remain on the road this weekend when it travels to
Salisbury, Maryland on Friday and Saturday, September 14-15 to
compete in the annual Seagull Classic hosted by Salisbury
University. On Friday, the Yellow Jackets will face Centenary
(N.J.) College at 5:00 p.m. and DeSales (Pa.) University at
7:00 p.m. BW will close out the tournament on Saturday
with matches against host Salisbury at 12:00 p.m. and Galludet
(D.C.) University at 2:00 p.m.
