BEREA, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University volleyball team defeated Capital University, 3-2, in an Ohio Athletic Conference match in the Rudolph Ursprung Gymnasium on Seniors' and Parents' Day.  This was the final home regular season match.

The Yellow Jackets (10-16, 3-4 OAC) won the first two sets before the Crusaders (14-13, 2-5 OAC) responded by winning sets three and four.   BW closed out the match by winning the fifth set.  The scores of the match were 25-20, 25-17, 22-25, 21-25, and 15-7.

The Yellow Jackets had five players record double figure kills led by senior middle hitter Colleen Bonacci (Stow/Stow-Munroe Falls) with 16. Junior middle hitter Markema Winters (Akron/Firestone) had 14 followed by senior outside hitters Taylor Burns and Kayla Harris (Lima) and junior right side hitter Alayna Chlad (Kent/Roosevelt) all contributed 10.   The offense was set up by senior Shannon Deleur (Olmsted Falls) with a career-high 47 assists.

Defensively, freshman libero Arlayna Newcomer (Norwalk/ St. Paul) led the way with career-high 27 digs and junior defensive specialist Paige Pileski (Elyria) contributed a career-best 23 digs.  Burns tallied 19 digs and Deleur and freshman defensive specialist Allyson Iwanski (Stow/Stow-Munroe Falls) each added 14.

The Yellow Jackets are back in action on Tuesday, October 29 when they travel to Alliance to play No. 9 nationally ranked Mount Union in the McPherson Athletic Complex at 7 pm.
