NEW CONCORD, Ohio – Senior guard
Justin Roth (Parma) scored a game-high 21 points as the Baldwin Wallace University men's basketball defeated Ohio Athletic Conference rival Muskingum University, 80-62, on Performance Court inside the Muskingum Recreation Center. The win was BW's second straight.
In addition to
Roth for BW (4-2, 2-1 OAC), sophomore forward
Jake Fetherolf (Norwalk) had a career-high 12 points and led the team with seven rebounds and freshman guard
Cameron Kuhn (Vermilion) had 10 markers. A big key in the win for the Yellow Jackets was outscoring Muskingum, 36-6, from three-point range. BW canned 12 of 27 treys compared to just 2 of 11 for the Fighting Muskies.
Junior forward Cody Seiler and junior guard Christain Keller led Muskingum (3-5, 1-2 OAC) with 13 points apiece.
In the first half, Muskingum built an early, 12-5 lead at 15:57 before BW stormed back with a 17-10 run to tie it at 22-22 at 8:32 when sophomore guard
Zack Brandy (Hudson) came off the bench to make a jump shot. The game was tied again at 24-24 at 7:13 before the Yellow Jackets gained a 36-30 lead at 2:07 with a 12-6 run that culminated when
Fetherolf took a pass and dunked it home. The Fighting Muskies scored the final four points of the stanza, including a jumper at the buzzer, to close to 36-34 at halftime.
In the second half, Muskingum took a brief one-point lead twice before it was all BW. The Muskies led 39-38 with 18:34 left before senior All-OAC guard
Jaron Crowe (Mentor) canned a three-pointer at 18:14 to take a 41-39 advantage for good. When BW's 33-10 run was over, including a spurt of 14-0, it led convincingly, 71-49 at 6:26 when senior forward
Matt Dennis (Spring Hills, Fla./ Nature Coast Technical) dunked. That was BW's largest lead of the game.
BW is back in action on Wednesday, December 17 when it hosts Marietta College in an OAC clash in the Rudolph Ursprung Gymnasium in the Lou Higgins Center at 7:30 p.m.
