WAYNESBURG, Pennsylvania—The Baldwin Wallace University women's soccer team defeated Waynesburg (Pa.) University, 3-2, Saturday afternoon inside John F. Wiley Stadium.
The Yellow Jackets (4-2-2) scored first when freshman forward
Rachel Bender (Massillon/ Jackson) scored her first goal of her collegiate career in the eighth minute. Senior forward
Audrie Wolfe (Hilliard/ Darby) was credited with the assist.
BW added to their lead 17 minutes before halftime when senior midfielder
Kelsey Nemeth (Medina) got behind the defense and scored her second goal of the season. Sophomore midfielder
Anna Poptic (Dublin/Jerome) recorded her second assist of the season.
Just 37 seconds into the second half of play,
Poptic added to the Yellow Jackets lead with a goal of her own to put the game out of reach.
Waynesburg (Pa.) (2-3) scored two goals in the 84th and 87th minute, but time ran out on their comeback.
First-team All-Ohio Athletic Conference and All-OAC academic senior goalkeeper
Emily Tallmadge (Fairview, Pa.) made four saves for BW.
The Yellow Jackets travel to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on Tuesday, September 22 to face off against Carnegie Melon University inside Gesling Stadium at 7 p.m.
