Today's Contest
Today is the seventh game of the 2024 season, the fourth road contest, and the sixth Ohio Athletic Conference game for the Baldwin Wallace University football team as it travels to Marietta for Ohio Athletic Conference game against Marietta College. The Yellow Jackets fell to John Carroll University by a final score of 20-16 in the 36th edition of the Cuyahoga Gold Bowl game.  Last Saturday, Marietta defeated Muskingum University by a final score of 38-6.

The Series
BW and Marietta are meeting for 47th time on the gridiron. The Yellow Jackets lead the all-time series by a margin of 38-8. BW has won 14 of the last 17 meetings.  The Pioneers won last year's meeting by a final score of 42-21. The series began in 1974 with the Yellow Jackets defeating the Pioneers, 73-0, in Berea

BW Head Coach Jim Hilvert
Hilvert is in his eighth  season at BW and has a record of 46-22 and Ohio Athletic Conference slate of 40-20. He is 113-48 in his 16th overall season. Hilvert is 3-3 all-time versus Marietta.

Marietta Head Coach Andy Waddle
Waddle is in his 12th  season at Marietta and has a record of 53-48 overall and 46-54 mark in the OAC.  He is 3-8 vs. Baldwin Wallace   

Last Game vs. Marietta -- Sept. 30,  2023
BW scored 21 points on 336 yards passing and 58 yards rushing for 394 total yards.  Marietta scored 42 points on 179 yards rushing and 147 yards passing for 326 total yards.

Scouting the Yellow Jackets
In week six of the season, BW scored 16 points on 277 yards passing and 34 yards rushing for 311 total yards.  John Carroll scored 20 points on 240 yards passing and 157 yards rushing for 397 total yards.

BW Leaders
Offensively, sophomore quarterback Charlie Bubonics (Solon) has completed 138-of-1191 passes for an OAC second best 1,404 yards with OAC leading 17 touchdowns. Bubonics also is second in the league with a .723 completion percentage.  Sophomore running back George Linberger (Barberton/St. Vincent-St. Mary) leads the ground game with 307 yards on 69 carries with one touchdown.  Junior wideout Tim Conwell (Avon) leads the OAC with seven receiving touchdowns and is and is tied for fourth in the conference with 27 receptions.  Conwell is eighth in the with 338 yards. Defensively, junior linebacker Dom Tromba (Painesville/Riverside) leads the team with 32 tackles.

Scouting the Pioneers
In week of the six of the season, Marietta scored 38 points on 262 yards passing and 116 yards rushing for 378 total yards.   Muskingum scored six points on 217 yards passing and 89 yards rushing for 306 total yards.

Marietta Leaders
Offensively, senior All-OAC quarterback Connor Vierstra has completed 104-of-151 passes for an OAC third best 1,390 yards with an OAC second best 15 touchdowns. Junior running back Taz Morris has rushed for 453 yards on 78 carries with an OAC sixth best tying five touchdowns. Junior running back Vante' Hodges has carried the ball 46 times for 417 with an OAC sixth best tying five touchdowns.  Senior All-OAC wide receiver Dawson Snyder is second in the league with 40 receptions for an a conference third best 470 yards.  Snyder has caught five touchdowns and rushed for another.  Defensively, Harley Hopkins leads the team and is tied for the OAC lead with 49 tackles.
