Women’s Tennis Drops Non-Conference Match to Grove City (Pa.)

GROVE CITY, Pa. – The Baldwin Wallace University women's tennis fell to Grove City College in a non-conference match by a final score of 7-0 on the Walters-Zbell Tennis Courts.

Grove City (5-1) claimed the doubles point as it won all three doubles matches and then swept all singles matches.   This season, the NCAA Division III tennis has adopted a new policy as doubles matches now account for one team point and not three points like in previous years.

Doubles
  • Sophomore Colleen Andersen (Ashtabula/St. John) and sophomore Olivia Koutouras (Avon Lake) fell at first doubles by a score of 6-1
  • Senior Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference Emma Trost (Norwalk) and sophomore Saraphina Groh (Cuyahoga Falls) fell at second doubles by a score of 6-2
  • Junior Gillian Brown (Brunswick) and sophomore Samantha Thielen (Toledo/Sylvania Northview) fell at third doubles by a score of 6-2
Singles
  • Andersen fell at first singles by scores of 6-4 and 6-2
  • Trost fell at second singles by scores of 6-0 and 6-1
  • Koutouras fell at third singles by scores of 6-1 and 6-2
  • Groh fell at fourth singles by identical scores of 6-0
  • Brown fell at fifth singles by scores of 6-4 and 6-2
  • Thielen fell at sixth singles by identical scores of 6-0
BW is back in action on Saturday, October 12 when they host a non-conference match against the Penn State University at Behrend on the Pop Collins Tennis Courts at 1 p.m.
