Today's Contest
Today is the fifth game of the 2024 season, the third home contest, and the fourth Ohio Athletic Conference game for the Baldwin Wallace University football team as it hosts Otterbein University in its Hall of Fame game. BW lost its first game of the season on September 28 when it fell to the University of Mount Union by a final score of 52-14.  Otterbein fell to Mount Union at home by a final score of 21-0 last Saturday.

The Series
BW and Otterbein are meeting for the 55th time on the gridiron. The Yellow Jackets hold a 41-12-1 all-time series, including winning the past five meetings. In the last four meetings, the Yellow Jackets have outscored the Cardinals by a margin of 178-55. The series began in 1925 with the Yellow Jackets defeating the Cardinals, 7-0, in Berea.

BW Head Coach Jim Hilvert
Hilvert is in his eight  season at BW and has a record of 45-21 and Ohio Athletic Conference slate of 39-19. He is 112-47 in his 16th overall season. Hilvert is 5-1 all-time  versus Otterbein.

Otterbein Head Coach Jake Schaefer
Schaefer is in his first season at Otterbein and has a record of 0-4 and an OAC mark of 0-3.   

Last Game vs. Otterbein -- October 21,  2023
BW scored 24 points on 246 yards rushing and 102 yards rushing for 348 total yards.  Otterbein was held scoreless on 106 yards passing and minus nine yards rushing for  97 total yards

Scouting the Yellow Jackets
In week four of the season, BW scored 14 points on 199 yards passing and 86 yards rushing for 285 total yards.  Mount Union scored 52 points on 302 passing and 247 yards rushing for 549 total yards.

BW Leaders
Offensively, sophomore quarterback Charlie Bubonics (Solon) has completed 85-of-111 passes for an OAC leading 891 yards with OAC leading 111 touchdowns. Bubonics also lead the OAC in completion percentage with .766.  Sophomore running back George Linberger (Barberton/St. Vincent-St. Mary) leads the ground game with 231 yards on 42 carries with one touchdown.  Junior wideout Tim Conwell (Avon) leads the team and is third in the league with 18 receptions for  206 yards.  Senior wide receiver Oliver Kelleher (Hobe Sound, Fla./Marian County) is tied for first in the OAC with four touchdowns.  Kelleher leads the team and is third in the league with 257 yards and is fourth in the conference with 17 catches. Defensively, senior defensive back Alden Steele (Lorain/Amherst) leads the team and is tied for fifth in the OAC with 22 tackles. Junior linebacker Dom Tromba (Painesville/Riverside) is second on the squad and tied for eighth in the league with 21 stops.

Scouting the Cardinals
In week of the four of the season, Otterbein was held scoreless on 214 yards passing and 72 yards rushing for 286 total yards.  Mount Union scored 21 points on 205 yards passing and 184 yards rushing for 389 total yards.

Otterbein Leaders
Offensively, sophomore quarterback Cayden Lassiter has completed 43-of-76 passes for 469 yards with five interceptions. Sophomore running back Matt Griffin has rushed for 183 yards on 49 carries with three touchdowns. Freshman wide receiver Cass Cole has caught 17 passes for 253 yards. Defensively, junior linebacker Thomas Cherry has recorded 34 tackles.

2024 Hall of Fame Class
Today, the Department of Athletics and Recreation and the Center for Philanthropy and Alumni Engagement induct the nine newest members of the Athletics Alumni Hall of Fame.  The nine newest members brings the total to 386 Yellow Jackets for Life that have been inducted.
