Men’s Swimming & Diving Takes Fifth NCAA Division II Malone Invitational

CANTON, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University men's swimming and diving team placed fifth at the three-day NCAA Division II Malone University Invitational inside the C.T. Branin Natatorium.
 
BW was fifth of 14 teams with 560 points.  NCAA Division II Gannon (Pa.) was the champion with 1,738 points.
 
Individuals
  • Senior All-Ohio Athletic Conference and Academic All-OAC diver Jason Heisler (Saline, Mich.) won the 1-meter and 3-meter dive events with total points of 457.45 and 496.25, respectively
  • Senior All-OAC and Academic All-OAC stroker Tommie McQueary (Batavia/Bethel Park) was third in the 200-yard butterfly in a time of 1:54.98, fourth in the 100-yard butterfly in a time of 50.23 and seventh in the 200-yard individual medley in a time of 1:57.91
  • Senior All-OAC stroker Austin Kingsley (Northport, N.Y.) was sixth in the 200-yard backstroke in a time of 1:57.78, seventh in the 200-yard freestyle in a time of 1:48.22 and 14th in the 500-yard freestyle in a time of 4:58.65
  • Junior stroker Nolan Szuch (Springboro) took eighth in the 200-yard backstroke in a time of 2:00.16
  • Senior stroker Jason Tafoya (El Paso, Texas) finished 10th in the 400-yard individual medley in a time of 4:33.71 and 13th in the 200-yard breaststroke in a time of 2:19.13
 
Relays
  • The 400-yard medley squad of Szuch, Tafoya, McQueary and Kingsley placed seventh in a time of 3:41.10
  • The 800-yard freestyle crew of McQueary, junior freestyler Kevin Meyer (Mentor), senior freestyler Erik Tagg (Pittsburgh, Pa./Chartiers Valley) and Kingsley were seventh in a time of 7:28.81
  • The 200-medley team of Kingsley, Tafoya, McQueary and senior freestyler Luke Minick (Stow/Archbishop Hoban) finished eighth in a time of 1:38.80
  • The 400-yard freestyle troupe of McQueary, Tafoya, Minick and Kingsley placed ninth in a time of 3:19.38
  • The 200-yard freestyle unit of Minick, sophomore stroker Owen Rogonjic (Mentor), sophomore stroker Ian Hochstetler (Doylestown/Wadsworth) and senior stroker Jack Kielmeyer (Westerville/North) took 11th in a time of 1:33.38
 
The Yellow Jackets are back in action on Saturday, December 7 when they travel to Tiffin for a non-conference dual meet against Bluffton University and an OAC dual meet against Heidelberg University inside the Tiffin YMCA at 1 p.m.
