WESTERVILLE, Ohio – Baldwin Wallace University senior All-American 157-pounder
Michael Petrella (Reynoldsburg/Bishop Hartley) has been named as the Ohio Athletic Conference Men's Wrestler of the Week for the fifth time in his career.
Petrella earns the weekly honor after winning the 157-pound title and leading No. 15 BW to a fifth-place finish at the 60th North Central (Ill.) College Invitational.
He had a record of 4-0 as he won a 10-1 major decision over Luke Swan of the University of Wisconsin at Whitewater, a 16-0 technical fall over Zaren Anderson of Carthage (Wis.) College, an 18-2 technical fall over No. 10 Nate Camiscioli of Castleton (Vt.) University and a 4-0 decision over Karsen Otis of No. 1 nationally ranked Augsburg (Minn.) University.

Petrella has a record 10-0 on the season with one pin, six technical falls and two major decisions.
For his career,
Petrella ranks third on the school's all-time wins list with a record of 125-4. He has tallied 44 pins, 30 technical falls and 18 major decisions.
Petrella has won 86 straight matches, with his last loss coming in the semifinals of the 2022 NCAA Division III National Championships. He is the two-time defending NCAA Division III 149-pound champion, a three-time All-American, three-time All-OAC first-team selection, the 2024 The Open Mat.com NCAA Division III Wrestler of the Year and 2024 OAC Wrestler of the Year.

Petrella is a two-time National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) Scholar All-American.
The Yellow Jackets are back in action on Saturday, December 21 when they travel to Providence, Rhode Island to compete in the East Coast Duals hosted by No. 4 nationally ranked Johnson and Wales University inside the Wildcat Center. BW will compete against No. 16 Wabash (Ind.) College at 1 p.m., No. 7 Castleton (Vt.) University at 3 p.m. and Johnson and Wales at 5 p.m.
