CLEVELAND, Ohio - The Baldwin Wallace University men's track and field team opened the 2024-25 season at the Spartan Alumni Meet hosted by Case Western Reserve University in the Veale Center. The meet was unscored.
The Yellow Jackets individual events highlights included:
- Sophomore Gabe Ghering (Sunbury / Big Walnut) won the 5k run in a time of 15:54.18
- Freshman Nate James (Warren / Harding) won the 1k run in a time of 4:26.46
- Freshman Aidan Simmons (Frederick, Md. / Walkersville) won the 60-meter dash in a time of 6.95
Field event highlights:
- Senior Kaleu Tellas (Indianapolis, Ind. / International School of Indiana) won the shot put (15.18 meters) and weight throw (16.14 meters)
- Senior All-American Christian Pfeiffer (Amherst) won the high jump with a height of 2 meters.
- Sophomore Noah Baer (Cartersville, Ga. / Woodland) won the pole vault with a distance of 4.15 meters
On the relay side:
Junior All-Ohio Athletic Conference distance runner
Sam Sikorski (Columbia Station / Columbia) competed at the Youngstown State Icebreaker, hosted by NCAA Division I Youngstown State University. He competed in the 1k run, placing third in a time of 4:17.00 (second all-time at BW). He also competed in the 800-meter run, finishing seventh in a time of 1:59.07.
The Yellow Jackets are back in action Saturday, Jan. 25 as they travel to Geneva for the SPIRE Midwest Open at SPIRE Institute.
