CLEVELAND, Ohio - The Baldwin Wallace University women's track and field team opened the 2024-25 season at the Spartan Alumni Meet hosted by Case Western Reserve University in the Veale Center. The meet was unscored.
The Yellow Jackets individual events highlights included:
- Junior All-Ohio Athletic Conference distance runner Katie Plecko (Rootstown) won the the 1k run in a time of 3:21.91
- Senior Kenni Voytek (Valley View / Cuyahoga Heights) finished fourth in the 60-meter hurdles in a time of 9.67
Field event highlights:
- Freshman Eriana Hollowell (Norfolk, Va. / Smith) finished third in the long jump with a distance of 5.06 meters
- Sophomore Rylee Gorrell (Grove City, Pa. / Grove City Area) placed third in the high jump with a mark of 1.63 meters
- Senior All-OAC thrower Emily Torres (Berea / Berea-Midpark) placed fourth in the shot put (11.55 meters) and fourth in the weight throw (15.10 meters)
On the relay side:
- Freshman Bri Almasy (Elyria / St. Joseph Academy), junior All-OAC sprinter Morgan Aloi (Sylvania / Sylvania Northview), and Plecko finished third in the 4x400 relay in a time of 4:27.75
The Yellow Jackets are back in action Saturday, Jan. 25 as they travel to Geneva for the SPIRE Midwest Open at SPIRE Institute.
