Women’s Indoor Track and Field Wraps Up Action at SPIRE Midwest Open

GENEVA, Ohio - The Baldwin Wallace University women's indoor track and field team competed at the SPIRE Midwest Open hosted by SPIRE Institute. The meet was unscored.

The Yellow Jackets individual events highlights included:
  • Freshman Jameire Honzu (Warren / Harding) finished third in the 60-meter hurdles in a time of 8.99.
  • Senior All-Ohio Athletic Conference sprinter Abby Collier (Dublin / Coffman) placed fourth in the 400-meter dash in a time of 58.73. Collier also finished eighth in the 200-meter dash in a time of 25.85.
Field event highlights:
  • Freshman Morgan Riley (Bay Village / St. Joseph Academy) placed sixth in the pole vault with a mark of 3.00 meters.
  • Sophomore Rylee Gorrell (Grove City, Pa. / Grove City Area) finished seventh in the high jump with a height of 1.60 meters.
  • Freshman Lucy McChesney-Betler (Greensburg, Pa. / Salem) placed eighth in the pole vault with a mark of 3.00 meters.
On the relay side:
  • In the 4x400 relay squad, Collier, senior All-American distance runner Hope Murphy (Mogadore), senior Kenni Voytek (Valley View / Cuyahoga Heights) and junior All-OAC sprinter Morgan Aloi (Sylvania / Northview) finished fifth in a time of 4:05.35.
BW is back in action Saturday, Feb. 1 at 10 a.m. as it hosts the Dr. Taraschke Team Challenge on the Harrison Dillard Track inside the Lou Higgins Center Fieldhouse.
