STEUBENVILLE, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University women's tennis team fell to Franciscan University in a non-conference match by a final score of 7-0 on the Bellview Courts.
Franciscan (1-0) defeated BW (0-2) in all three doubles and all six singles matches. This season, the NCAA Division III tennis has adopted a new policy as doubles matches now account for one team point and not three points like in previous years.
Doubles
- Sophomore Collen Andersen (Ashtabula/St. John) and sophomore Olivia Koutouras (Avon Lake) fell at first doubles by a score of 6-1
- Senior Academic All-OAC Emma Trost (Norwalk) and sophomore Saraphina Groh (Cuyahoga Falls) fell at second doubles by a score of 6-2
- Junior Gillian Brown (Brunswick) and sophomore Samatha Thielen (Toledo/Sylvania Northview) fell at third doubles by a score of 6-2
Singles
- Andersen fell at first singles by scores of 6-2 and 6-3
- Trost fell at second singles by scores of 6-3 and 6-1
- Koutouras fell at third singles by identical scores of 6-0
- Groh fell at fourth singles by scores of 6-1 and 6-3
- Brown fell at fifth singles by scores of 4-6, 6-4 and 1-0 (10-3)
- Thielen fell at sixth singles by scores of 6-2, 4-6 and 1-0 (10-7)
The Yellow Jackets are back in action on Saturday, September 21 when they host a non-conference match against Westminster (Pa.) College on the Pop Collins Tennis Courts at 1 p.m.
