Today's Contest
Today is the fourth game of the 2024 season, the second home contest, and the third Ohio Athletic Conference game for the Baldwin Wallace University football team as it hosts No. 3 nationally ranked and defending OAC Champion the University of Mount Union on Homecoming. BW won its third straight and second OAC game last Saturday as it defeated Capital University by a final score of 55-21. Mount Union won its second game of the season and its OAC opener as it rallied to defeat John Carroll University last Saturday in Alliance by a final score of 37-31.
The Series
BW and Mount Union have met 61 times on the gridiron. The Purple Raiders lead the all-time series by a margin of 39-21-1, including winning the last 28 contests. The series began in 1896 as the Yellow Jackets posted a 10-0 victory in Alliance. The last BW win came in 1994 when it knocked off Mount Union by a final score of 23-10 in Alliance. The last Yellow Jacket victory in Berea was in 1991, which also was the last time the Purple Raiders lost an OAC road game as BW won by a final score of 21-18.
BW Head Coach Jim Hilvert
Hilvert is in his eight season at BW and has a record of 45-20 and Ohio Athletic Conference slate of 39-18. He is 112-46 in his 16th overall season. Hilvert is 0-6 all-time versus Mount Union.
Mount Union Head Coach Geoff Dartt
Dartt is in his fifth season at Mount Union and has a career record of 44-3 and an OAC record of 32-0. He is 4-0 against Baldwin Wallace as the Yellow Jackets and Purple Raiders did not play in the COVID-19 shortened season of 2021 spring.

BW scored 17 points on 262 yards passing and 26 yards rushing for 288 total yards. Mount Union scored 41 points on 309 yards passing and 161 yards rushing for 470 total yards.
Scouting the Yellow Jackets
In week three of the season, BW scored 55 points on a season-high 308 yards rushing and 293 yards passing for a season-high 601 total yards. Capital scored 21 points on 195 yards passing and 135 yards rushing for 330 total yards.
BW Leaders
Offensively, sophomore quarterback Charlie Bubonics (Solon) has completed 60-of-75 passes for an OAC leading 714 yards with OAC leading nine touchdowns. Bubonics also lead the OAC in completion percentage with .800. Sophomore running back George Linberger (Barberton/St. Vincent-St. Mary) leads the ground game with 212 yards on 37 carries with one touchdown. Junior wideout Tim Conwell (Avon) leads the team and tied for fourth in the league with 13 receptions for 179 yards. Conwell and senior wide receiver Oliver Kelleher (Hobe Sound, Fla./Marian County)are tied for second in the OAC with three touchdowns. Kelleher leads the team and is third in the league with 214 yards on 12 catches. Defensively, junior linebacker Dom Tromba (Painesville/Riverside) leads the team with 16 tackles.
Scouting the Purple Raiders
In week two of the season, Mount Union scored 37 points on 268 yards rushing, 214 yards passing for 482 total yards. John Carroll scored 31 points on 325 yards passing, 77 yards rushing for 402 total yards.
Mount Union Leaders
Offensively, junior quarter back Noah Beaudrie has completed 31-of-43 passes for 496 yards with three touchdowns. Senior All-OAC running back Tyler Echeverry leads the team with 237 yards on 20 carries with OAC best tying five touchdowns. Junior wide receiver Nick Turner has caught eight passes for 181 with one touchdown. Defensively, senior Academic All-OAC defensive back Manny Curtis has recorded 16 tackles.
Putting Up the Shutout
Through the first three games of the season, the Yellow Jacket defense has yet to surrender a point to open the game or to open the second half.

Hall of Fame Game
BW will induct the 2024 members of its Athletics Alumni Association Hall of Fame on Saturday, October 12 prior to the Ohio Athletic Conference game between BW and Otterbein University at 1:30 p.m. The newest inductees will be introduced to the Finnie Stadium crowd between the first and second quarters.
