No. 12 Men's Volleyball Opens Road Trip With Five-Set Win Over Benedictine (Ill.)

LISLE, Ill. - The No. 12 nationally ranked Baldwin Wallace University men's volleyball team defeated Benedictine (Ill.) University in a non-conference matchup by a final score of 3-2 in the Rice Center.

BW (6-1) opens an action-packed weekend by taking down Benedictine (3-2) in a five-set thriller after a strong 25-18 first-set victory. The Eagles would win the next two sets but the Brown and Gold offense dominated the rest of the match hitting .381 with 23 kills down the stretch to begin the weekend in the win column.

BW Leaders
  • Sophomore outside hitter Daniel Latham (Westerville/Westerville Central) recorded a career-high 24 kills hitting .450 on 40 attacks and served up two aces
  • Senior Academic All-MCVL setter Carson Junker (Massillon/Jackson) tallied a game-high 43 assists and added seven digs
  • Junior Academic All-MCVL middle hitter Colby Whiteside (Powell/Olentangy Liberty) defended the net with two block solos and three block assists while also recording four kills and two aces
  • Senior All-MCVL outside hitter Ted Hofmeister (Powell/Saint Charles) finished with his second double-double of the season with 14 kills and 10 digs
  • Sophomore Academic All-MCVL right-side hitter Jacob Esteves (Wickliffe/St. Edward) contributed six kills in his three sets of action

  • Sophomore setter Spencer VanEngen recorded 30 assists
  • Sophomore outside hitter Chris Radomski led the team with 13 kills

College against No. 5 nationally ranked Juniata (Pa.) College at 4: 30 p.m. EST in the Rice Center. On Saturday, February 1, BW concludes the FrogJump Invitational against the No. 3 nationally ranked Stevens (N.J.) Institute of Technology at 2:30 p.m. and against the host Carthage at 5 p.m.
