No. 12 Men's Volleyball Competes at 2025 FrogJump Invitational

KENOSHA, Wisc. - The No. 12 nationally ranked Baldwin Wallace University men's volleyball team competed at the 2025 FrogJump Invitational hosted by No. 8 nationally ranked Carthage (Wisc.) College where they fell to No. 5 nationally ranked Juniata (Pa.) College, No. 3 Stevens (N.J.) Institute of Technology, and the host Carthage in Tarble Arena. 

It was a momentous weekend for the BW (6-4) men's volleyball program as the Yellow Jackets got the invite to the second annual FrogJump Invitational: the premier DIII Men's Volleyball in-season tournament featuring four of the best teams in the nation. On Friday night, the Brown and Gold took on No. 5 Juniata where they fell in straight sets by scores of 23-25, 19-25, and 21-25. The Jakets bounced back on Saturday by nearly taking down the No. 3 team in the nation in the Stevens Ducks falling in five sets by scores of 25-23, 27-29, 25-23, 21-25, and 10-15. BW then played strong against the host No. 8 Carthage where they fell three sets to one by scores of 14-25, 25-22, 23-25, and 20-25.

  • Sophomore outside hitter Daniel Latham (Westerville/Westerville Central) led the team in kills with eight, in digs with four, and in blocks with three
  • Senior All-MCVL outside hitter Ted Hofmeister (Powell/Saint Charles) also recorded eight kills and added three digs
  • Senior Academic All-MCVL setter Carson Junker (Massillon/Jackson) assisted 25 times and added three digs
  • Sophomore All-MCVL outside hitter Owen Huynh (Loveland) had seven kills
  • Senior All-MCVL outside hitter Michael Beard (Hilliard/Darby) and junior Academic All-MCVL libero Aiden Kim (Bothell, Wash./North Creek) also contributed three digs each
vs. No. 3 Stevens (7-1)
  • Sophomore Academic All-MCVL right-side hitter Jacob Esteves (Wickliffe/St. Edward) finished with a game-high 15 kills and added six block assists
  • Junker recorded a new career-high 56 assists and had nine digs
  • Senior middle hitter Reed Fisher (Freedom, Pa./Ambridge Area) had a weekend-high eight total blocks for the Yellow Jackets and seven kills
  • Kim also had nine digs to tie a season-high
  • Junior Academic All-MCVL middle hitter Colby Whiteside (Powell/Olentangy Liberty) totaled five block assists and eight kills 
  • Hofmeister added another double-double to his season with 12 kills and a team-high 13 digs
at No. 8 Carthage (6-2)
  • Sophomore libero Jack Sullenberger (Powell/Olentangy Liberty) tallied a game-high eight digs
  • Beard finished with a season-high 11 kills, five digs, and two blocks
  • Fisher tied a team-high two blocks and added six kills
  • Hofmeister also contributed six kills, six digs, and served up two aces
  • Latham added 15 more kills and five digs to his big weekend
  • Esteves recorded seven kills
  • Junker had 47 assists and seven digs
The Yellow Jackets are back in action on Saturday, February 8 as they host a tri-match against Thiel (Pa.) College and Hiram College beginning at 1 p.m. in Ursprung Gymnasium inside the Lou Higgins Center.
