No. 14 Women's Basketball Flies Past Heidelberg

BEREA, Ohio – The No. 14 nationally ranked Baldwin Wallace University women's basketball team defeated Heidelberg University by a final score of 85-41 in an Ohio Athletic Conference matchup in Ursprung Gymnasium inside the Lou Higgins Center.

BW Leaders (11-1, 5-0 OAC)

  • Four Jackets led the team with eight points: senior forward Sadie Arend (Carey), senior All-OAC forward Bella Vaillant (Perrysburg), junior Academic All-OAC guard Alyssa Miller (New Philadelphia), and sophomore guard Kayla Jones (Grove City)
  • Senior All-OAC guard/forward Caely Ressler (Napoleon) and sophomore guard Ava Wilkerson (West Mansfield/Marysville) each scored seven
  • Vaillant recorded a team-high seven rebounds while sophomore Eily Badertscher (Wooster) finished with a career-high five boards
  • 20 Yellow Jackets contributed to the team's season-high 85 points by either scoring or assisting on a basket
Heidelberg Leaders (1-11, 0-5 OAC)
  • Senior guard/forward Morgan Altenburger scored a game-high 12 points and tied a game-high seven rebounds
  • Senior guard Chloe Gilbert added 11 points
  • Sophomore guard/forward Hannah Hunt scored six points and recorded two blocks

1st Quarter (BW 23-15)

  • A three from sophomore guard Taylor Bass (Strongsville) gave BW a 14-13 lead to put the Brown and Gold up for good
  • The Yellow Jackets owned the boards by a 12-4 advantage

2nd Quarter (BW 41-24)

  • BW opened the quarter with five straight points leading to a 14-4 run over the next seven minutes
3rd Quarter (BW 64-36)
  • Junior guard Kaycie Badylak (Cincinnati/Archbishop McNicholas) blocked three shots and Miller blocked two
4th Quarter (BW 85-41)
  • Freshman guard Elise Champagne (Columbia Station/Columbia) scored a career-high six points and sophomore guard/forward Rylee Bennett (New Franklin/Archbishop Hoban) added five points
  • Freshman forward Addison Weimer (Dayton/Stebbins) made her collegiate debut where she recorded a rebound while freshman forwards Delaney Garcia (Lakewood) and Sarah Scott (Monaca, Pa./Lincoln Park) scored their first career points in the Brown and Gold
The Yellow Jackets are back in action on Saturday, January 11 as they travel to Wilmington to take on Wilmington College in an Ohio Athletic Conference matchup and the first game of a women's and men's doubleheader at 1 p.m. on Hermann Court inside Fred Raizk Arena.
