Today's Contest
Today is the sixth game of the 2025 season, second non-conference contest, and third home game for the Baldwin Wallace University football team as hosts Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology (Ind.). BW returned from its bye week and defeated Otterbein University by a final score of 56-14 last Saturday in Westerville. Rose-Hulman scored the final 21 points of the game to secure its first victory of the season with a 35-34 comeback win over Franklin (Ind.) College last Saturday in Franklin, Indiana.
 
The Series
BW and Rose-Hulman are meeting for the first time on the gridiron.
 
BW Head Coach Jim Hilvert
Hilvert is in his ninth season at BW and has a record of 53-24 and Ohio Athletic Conference slate of 45-22. He is 120-43 in his 16th overall season. Hilvert is taking on Rose-Hulman for the first time in his career.
 
Rose-Hulman Head Coach Jeff Sokol
Sokol is in his 15th season at Rose-Hulman and has a record of 90-52 and a Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference mark of 80-25. Sokol is facing Baldwin Wallace for the first time in his career.
 
Scouting the Yellow Jackets
In week five of the season, BW scored 56 points on season-high 386 yards rushing and 197 yards passing for 583 total yards.  Otterbein scored 14 points on 269 yards rushing and 51 yards passing for 320 total yards.
 
BW Leaders
Offensively, sophomore quarterback Charlie Bubonics (Solon) has completed 92-of-149 passes for 1029 yards with 11 touchdowns and one interception. Bubonics ranks fourth in the league in passing efficiency and touchdowns. Sophomore running back George Linberger (Barberton/St. Vincent-St. Mary) leads the OAC with 683 yards and touchdowns with seven. Linberger is third in carries with 100. Senior All-OAC wideout Tim Conwell (Avon) leads the aerial assault with 23 catches for 282 yards with four touchdowns. Defensively, junior Academic All-OAC linebacker Nolan Hartsel (Lodi/Northwestern) leads the team and is tied for seventh in the OAC with 33 tackles.  Senior linebacker Devontae Jackson (Cleveland/John Hay) is tied for first in the conference with two interceptions, including one he returned for an 83-yard touchdown.
 
Scouting the Fightin Engineers
In week five of the season, Rose-Hulman scored 35 points on season-best 235 yards passing and a season-high 168 yards rushing for season-best 493 total yards.  Franklin scored 34 points on 340 yards passing and 56 yards rushing for 396 total yards.
 
Rose-Hulman Leaders
Offensively, freshman quarterback Adam Yue has completed 62-of-127 passes for 593 yards with three touchdowns and seven interceptions.  Senior All-HCAC and Academic HCAC running back Jay Smith has rushed for 438 yards on 139 carries with five touchdowns. Smith also leads the receiving unit with 127 yards on 20 catches with one touchdown.  Sophomore linebacker Rudy Griffing leads the defense with 43 tackles.
 
Lighting Up the Stat Sheet
BW ranks in the Top 25 nationally (out of 242 Division III teams) in five key categories: fourth in third-down percentage, seventh in rushing offense, tied for 12th in scoring offense, 13th in total offense, and tied for 23rd in first downs per game.
 
Larry Van Dusen Recognition Day
BW will honor the legacy and memory of Athletics Alumni Hall of Fame Coach and Professor Larry Van Dusen on October 18.  Prior to the game a gathering of family, friends and alumni will celebrate Coach Van Dusen in the Tressel Lounge inside the Lou Higgins Recreation Center.  During the first and second and quarters of the football game, the University will recognize Coach Van Dusen to the Finnie Stadium crowd.
 
Bold & Gold and Hall of Fame Game
BW will host its Bold and Gold and Hall of Fame Game on October 25.  The 2:00 p.m. game against Marietta College will feature the Homecoming Festivities as well as the induction and introduction of the 2025 Class of the Athletics Alumni Association Hall of Fame.
