Men's Soccer Falls to D1 Dayton on the Road

- The Baldwin Wallace University men's soccer team fell on the road to NCAA Division I University of Dayton Flyers at Baujan Field by a final score of 5-0.

The matchup was the first regular-season clash between the Yellow Jackets and an NCAA Division I team since at least 2008. 

BW Leaders (5-9-1, 1-2 OAC) 

  • Sophomore midfielder Robbie Rochford (Fairlawn/Copley) led the Brown and Gold with two shots on goal

  • Junior transfer midfielder Dominic Massaro (Lewiston, N.Y./Lewiston Porter) contributed with one shot on goal 

  • Junior goalkeeper Diego Teran (Exton, Pa./Henderson) led BW with two saves, including a penalty kick attempt late in the second half 

  • Three of the six Yellow Jacket shots were on net

  • BW led the Flyers in corner kicks for the second half, 2-1

Dayton Leaders (4-2-6, 2-1-2 A-10)

  • Forwards Ethan Sassine and Maxim Scordo each recorded a goal and an assist in the effort

  • Midfielder Martin Bakken, forward Andrew Armstrong, and defender Kristjan Frostason all scored goals for the Flyers

  • Defender Adebayo Debako, midfielder Braden Seel, forward Cooper Lijewski, and forward Felix Buabeng combined for four assists, notching one each

  • Goaltender Gavin Krenecki pitched his 7th shutout of the season, while recording three saves

First Half (Dayton 3-0)

  • 04:33 – Bakken scored the first goal of the game for the Flyers, assisted by Debako

  • 21:19 – Sassine scored a left-footed goal on an excellent cross by Scordo

  • 22:49 – The favor is returned as Scordo put one away on the doorstep from Sassine to increase the Flyers' lead to 3-0; with a secondary assist on the play by Seel

Second Half (Dayton 5-0)

  • 64:07 – Armstrong opened the second-half scoring with a finish from Lijewski

  • 80:25 – Frostason fired a screamer that was assisted from Buabeng to make it a 5-0 Dayton lead
